She is looking great Mij,very nice work B) I agree that the Amati plans are exceptional value for money.I bought their plans for Prince 1670 a while ago and whilst historically inaccurate :( they do provide a wealth of information.

I`m not certain if the carving of the Eagle is good enough.

I might take this one off, and re-carve another one.

HI Mij.

Nice work on the rudder hindge and the carving are master piece.

The Eagle in the photo with the dolphins looks real good.. But looking at the carving on the stern it looks like a camera flash has taken away it's curves.

A thought... Try a light stain to bring out the depth of the carvings.

And by the way they are by far better than my carvings.. Too embarrassed to post photos :(

Hi Antony.

Thanks for your kind comments.

I will try a light oak stain for the Eagle, but as you know yourself, if your not happy with what you have done, it should be re-placed.

I`m sure you are far too modest about your carvings.

Kind Regards

I was not happy with the carving of the first eagle, so I carved another one from Boxwood.

I cut out the shape of the eagle first, then started the carving.

post-838-0-10021100-1396349906_thumb.jpg

I took Antony`s advice in putting a light stain on the carving to bring out the detail.

I used French polish and linseed oil.

Hi Mij.

The ship is progressing very nicely.

That method of shaping and cutting the cannon carages is used a lot by the me people on this site. Worked for me as well :)

Please keep the photos coming.

This build is interesting as I like the shape of the ship and the style.

Hi Michael

As long as I do some jobs in and outside the house, the Admiral is happy, and as the model is only 720mm long, I was able to work on her in doors at night, sitting with the Admiral.
