The ratlines might be a little to loose on the first one. I will try to make them more tight on the next 3. Do you have a method to have them perfectly even? Do you glue each knot?

Please let me know if you have a method...

Have a look at this post from Danny on doing them the right way .http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/4179-what-knots-on-ratlines-edited-by-admin/?p=124778

As for spacing , using a spacing template behind the shrouds will help keep everything even . A link to how Danny did this on his Vulture build.http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/230-hms-vulture-by-dan-vadas-1776-148-scale-16-gun-swan-class-sloop-from-tffm-plans/?p=271605

Don't use CA on the knots but a mixture of diluted white glue (50/50 glue and water . Hope this helps.

Well, almost a year since I start this ship. So much have happened !

One more kid :) , a home purchase, a full garage remodel (insulation, drywall, paint and even cut out a window) and finally the near completion of my Master degree (one more class).

I am dying to get back in the workshop.

I will start posting some updates by the end of December :D from my new man cave!

Starting to attach blocks and working on the standing rigging. This is the part which makes me the more nervous. The plans are terrible so you spend more time trying to understand them than actually rigging.

To attach the block, i was able to find some good videos on YouTube especially this one.

Great technique from Bender!

First one is up! The direction for this kit are pretty bad or none existent. So I have decided to come up with a different way to attach this spar. I am pretty satisfied with the result , but not sure this is very historial.

All blocks are up and ready for the spars. I am going to start working on sails. Sewing and furling.

Since I never used a sewing machine it is going to be a lot of fun. The admiral said she would help me with this process. :)

It may take me sometime for pics and progress reports.

In the meantime, I am also going to make a build log of a viking ship which was supposed to be a weekend build started over the summer. Well, a weekend build with 3 kids who am I kidding! :D

Diverted from the directions a bit, by trying to make the attachment a little bit more realistic . I think it was pretty successful. It is now attached.

Thanks Elijah!
There is no sail attached to the bottom spar in this type of ship. That been said, all other sails will be furled.
I am unfortunately more and more unhappy about my ratlines.I used the rigging supplies from the kit and they are horrible. All the additional work on the sails is highlighting the mediocrity of the ratlines implementation.
Taking them down and redo that would be a major project and I am not sure it is possible physically and mentally (sort of speak)

Hi Captgino,

Thank you for visiting my build. I took the opportunity to visit yours. You have a fine build going and I enjoyed seeing how you have approached similar problems as I have faced even though our pilots are from different manufacturers.

I found the links and the video particularly informative as I am at that point in my build.

I took some time off for Christmas and I am just now starting back up. Your log and the links are just the thing to help kick start my return.

Thank you again,

Joe

Thank you for the kind comments. I am happy to hear that the information I posted was useful to you.

You are doing a fantastic job on your build. Looking forward to make postings!

Meanwhile, I will continue furling away...
