I agree with Mark!  If that's mediocre - please don't ever look at any of my build logs.

The shrouds and lanyards on the mainmast are also done !
Now I go the the for mast and then I will start on the stays....
It goes slow but it is going

I also have done one ratline on the mizzen mast.
Just to see if I still know how to do the clove hitch.
The box with the rigging Gnomes was standing in front of me and every Gnome was dancing and cheering and happy because they thought they can work further on it......
To bad for them.....they still have to wait !!!!!!!

    Looking good my friend.

Another option for your window coverings may be lighting diffusion material or gels for photography / videography. It's relatively inexpensive and can be found at camera stores or websites. It also comes in a very wide variety of thickness and "cloudiness" so may have several options. Here are just a couple examples of what I have in my equipment room.

When I finally decided to tear off the cheeks & head rails I wasn't sure what I could re-do them with since I don't have a lot of milled wood to work with. I do have some lime wood & beech given to me by Dennis all the way from New Zealand. The problem with that was the upper head rail needs such a wide piece that none of these strips would work. I wanted to have all the cheeks & rails made out of the same kind of wood to keep the staining consistent so I had to find another option. I was going to look into getting a piece of poplar from Lowes like Piet told me about but I still haven't been able to get there yet (since being disabled from chronic lyme I can't drive anymore). So I rummaged through all the scrap I've got & found some blocks that were large enough for the upper rail. Don't know what kind of wood it is. It is hard but not real hard. The sawdust from it was yellowish. Anyway with nothing much but some small hand tools & a small hobby saw I painstakingly milled it down & cut & carved out the cheeks & head rails. This wood did so much better than the original basswood did but not as good as a harder wood would. I did have to harden it up some with watered down PVA when I cut the scroll lines. Much happier with these than the first ones.

Used some aluminum tubing for the hawse holes. Still working on the deck side of them.

Rigging looks great Sjors!  Something to maybe consider for the 'flyaway' pendants is to weigh them down and soak in diluted PVA which might make them hang a little more naturally.

Also, my mind was doing a "spot the difference" with post #893 - seems one of the knights has gone missing??

    @ Jason,

I was looking at post #893 to see what you mean and you are right
I think that one knight is looking for a castle or a damsel
    He is gone !
I think when we are moving he is falling of his place.
I will see if I can found him otherwise I will send Caldecraft an E-mail to see what they can do for me.
But you have sharp eyes !!!!!!
And thanks for the tip about the "flying" Pendants........
And then a question.....what is the purpose of those Pendants ??????????

Finally got the re-rigging(aged ropes) finished on the 12inch smooth bore. It turned out to be quite interesting to remove and replace the ropes with the cannon affixed in place. So if anyone needs a lobotomy???

Any how, I picked up some muslin to begin working on the sail. Turns out it's almost exact to the kit supplied sailcloth so let the experimentations commence. I also found a blank, white handkerchief swatch in one of my vintage boxes of DMC and am trying a few coloring methods for the sails. Now I just need to get my hands on a yard of the hanky material. It's so thin you can see through it, so I'm not quite sure how it'll work out.

One thing I've been searching for and haven't found yet, is the order in which the sails would be set from the furled position. I'm thinking of having a sail or two opened to the wind, but not sure which one(s) that would be. So if anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Looks well worth the effort of the re-do.  Nicely done.  Interested to see how it ends up with the planking, etc.

Hello Jesse... sorry to hear about the feline intrusion.  I just wanted to let you you know I've used the suggestion Capt Steven makes: stocking / pantyhose over the end of a vacuum hose trick in the past and it works quite well.

    Good luck,
