Making the fittings...
They are made of 0.1mm brass sheet and are 0,6mm wide. The nails are made out of 0.3mm brass wire. The procedure of making the nails, I will explain later, when I show the whole procedure of making the rudder.

Done. Under high magnification, it looks a little coarse, but it is a very tiny part.

The parts for the second jig (BJ2) were trimmed to length and the notches wher the parts rest on the base plates were formed using the dado set on my table saw. The two shorter blocks are actually 3 parts ganged together using carpet tape. The long part is two separate parts joined by tape. The glue up will leave a slot for the centerboard. Next: gluing up the jig.

prutser reacted to DocBlake in Generic Sharpie by DocBlake
It's necessary to build the second jig (BJ2) before anything is added to the first. This jig forms a "press" to establish the curve of the keelson, which, together with the chines receive the bottom planking on the first jig. The structure is then transferred to BJ2 to complete the hull framing. The photo shows the component parts. To get congruent parts, the two and three layer pine parts are ganged together with doublesided carpet tape for cutout on the bandsaw and smoothing to the layout line on the oscillating spindle sander.

Number three, I think we are nearly there
So now just need to take these bars out cut some boxwood and start making the windows, the plans show nine pane lights but at this size I might go with four as druxey did above
Thanks druxey for all your help

Dear friends,
your words mean a lot for me and I am very grateful for your support. Thank you for all very much. That is a great honour and motivation for me.
That is very nice, I appreciate your comment a lot and please give my regards to your wife.
I like the work with card cause I do not need any special tools. When I was a child, our family was poor and we had no money for many things. So I learned to work with minimal basis and only ordinary materials and basic tools. And this way of creating models has remained to me today, only experience and skills are much better ..... Still try to improve my work and achieve realistic rendering of models as is possible in my abilities.
It is possible that my ship models will be offered to the museum in future, because we do not have enough space at home for new ones. Maybe these models will bring pleasure to many other people who visit museums.

Yesterday I finished another sculpture on the stern, so now the ladies are in a complete set. Enjoy the pics:

Hi everyone - been working on the stern. The stern fascia is in 2 pieces which are glued together after adding a spacer & some PE windows. One thing that was puzzling me was the instructions said to paint the window frames black along with the outside frames, while the enclosed photos of the finished ship has the frames painted gold. I decided to just paint the windows & frames white. The decorations on the inner fascia were added also. Hard to tell from my picture, but there is a space of about 10mm between the 2 pieces at the deck level. I don`t know why,but the windows look uneven in the last picture - may have something to do with the zoom on my cheapo camera. In the third picture you can see that they are in reality nice & even.

interruptions all afternoon....then had to man the grill......mot much more got accomplished. there is enough here though
the deck was cut out of the mahogany sheet. I got a little sloppy, but nothing I can't fix . it was then cemented to the hull....wrapped in rubber bands.
the bulwark templates were cut off of the folder and pinned to a pine board. the innards were then cut out.......the outer part will be the template.
the stand is ready to be stained
the hull was put on it until the deck dried.
now, here the skinny on my concern. around the hull, about 4 mm down from the deck, a line must be drawn to where the bulwarks are cemented in place. I'm not all that warm and fuzzy about this jutting out from the hull. the instructions tell you to cement on the rub rails, draw the waterline, and have at it with paint or whatever suits your fancy. I'm going to check and see if I have planking that's 0.8 mm thick.......but I need to get the bulwarks and transom in place first. with the template cut out, a slight adjustment of the push pins, and I'm able to slide the sheet of thin stuff under it.
the bulwarks were drawn out and removed from under the template.
this stuff was a bear to cut with a box cutter......but I did it. I will sand them to even them up, before I cement them on. the check for the planking fared well......I think I have more than enough.........0,8 x 2 x 500 mm
so that's the plan........hopefully I can do a good job on it

Hello dear friends,
I am very pleased, you like my work. Thank you all for your praise and kind comments.
Well, it seems to be a man´s figure, but if I understand well the description of Vale´s painting from NMM, the central figure is a carving of Queen Catherine.
http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/15079.html
It depends on the complexity of a particular statuette/decoration, but usually takes me about 2-5 hours. But for example a larger figurehead can take me more than two days....
Oh, good question.... We take turns with my husband or mom. Telling the truth, we often do things together, it's better and faster.
Thank you very much for your support and good advice.I am glad I have decided to recreate the Queen´s sculpture again and believe, now she looks better.
And how you asked about the furnishing of the great cabin - of course I am going to make it in a high level of detail. Maybe I will place there some crew members as well. The decks are not fixes in place yet.

Please enjoy the pics and have a great time.

And here I have finally created the sculpture of the Queen Catherine. I used her portraits and other sources of suitable information to achieve this appearance.

The clothing is in an ancient style similar to the Vale's painting.

prutser reacted to Tecko in Wardell Bridge and boat by Tecko - 1:72 - diorama
Sorry NRG modelers for my delay in providing an update. Have been feeling a bit down lately.
Muz, a close friend, is dying from cancer. He has fought this for ten years now. But recent developments have quickly deteriorated his health.
I know we all have known someone who has died from cancer. Lost my best friend to it in 2001. Past experiences does not make me immune to grief and loss.
Recently, Muz paid a visit and suggested I ought to add life-jackets to the guys in the small fishing boat (mandatory for boats under 5 m). So I painted on the modern inflatable jackets on the guys. Also added line to the fishing rods.
A long while ago Muz, and my other friends who race road bikes, suggested I ought to add cyclists to the diorama. I have hesitated in doing so because I could not find any 1/72 road cyclists to buy, and the idea of building a bike was daunting. However, due to Muz's condition, I was inspired to give it a go. Decided to have Muz as the cyclist, waiting at the traffic lights and waving good-bye.
So I asked Muz to send me a photo of him and his bike.
After making the wheels, and attaching the front forks, I felt confident to carry on.
Altered a plastic figure to suit the requirements, and then added paint.
My hand is no longer steady.
It was a miracle to write MUZ on the jersey.

This placement is provisional. It is neccesary to complete the bowsprit before the final placement.
Another element is the steering wheel. It is put on the deck attached by two supports:
It is all at the moment. Very sloooowly,

We had a great time at the Northeast Joint Clubs Conference last weekend. Lots of beautiful models on display. My girlfriend, Ofelia, did most of the picture taking. I Finally got to meet a number of MSW members while I was there which was really nice.
Now that I'm back in build mode, I managed to taper the knee of the head and complete the gammoning knee and extension piece that sit above it. Templates were made from the plan drawings and transferred to 3/16" boxwood sheet.

Hi folks
Oh my lord!!!! I’ve done it! Well, at least the general shape of Genesis’ hull has been done (and that was by and large the biggest headache for me, what with her crazy mixture of complex curves and hard chines...).
Now, I’m going to concentrate on fine tuning, puttying and sanding the hull, to bring out the true beauty of this unique design.
Lots of work still to go, but I hope you’ll still come along for the ride.
Thanks to all for your comments and Likes. Much appreciated.
Cheers.

First step on our way to complete the running rigging. The sprit boom is up 😊. Don't ask how many times I attached it to the bowsprit, though. Today I was so frustrated that I tore it down one more time, adjusted the martingales and now I am happy with the result. Dad is busy winding the white ropes for the running rigging.

I never measured, but it is about 2,50m long and 1,80 m high. The widest boom is about 75 cm.

Thanks Bob! While I`m here, the bow entry doors are done. They were made sanding the edges of 3x3mm timber & glueing them together. The hinges were kit supplied items. There was nothing behind the doors to keep them in place,so I added a strip of wood on the inside to glue them to.

Progress is S-L-O-W !!!
After rigging the foremast shrouds I continued there and made a start on the ratlines. Got 9 done on each side of the mast >>>
Remembering how weary I became with the mainmast ratlines, I diverted to a few other tasks.
The fore topmast has been fitted >>>
and the fore crowsfeet have been rigged, and although unseen in this photo, the fore upper jeer blocks are hanging just under the top >>>
I returned to the mainmast and fitted them pesky catharpins . . . and then the futtock plates and shrouds >>>
Now I guess it's back to do some more foremast ratlines. The 18 (9 each side) that are already done probably represent about 30% - - - I think I'm scared to count how many are still to be done in case I find out !!!
