Several milestones in every build are worthy of small celebrations. The final hull plank is one of those "Miller Time" moments.

Hi Chuck:
Using the plans you shared with me, but referring back and forth to the magnificent build log posted by Ilhan Gokcay.
No kit....no laser cut parts.
You know I don't do kits....not when I have friends like you... ha ha

Dave,
I a glad to see that you started a Build Log of your beautiful Mayflower ship. I will be following this with a lot of interest.
I hope you get a chance to publish an article (with pictures) about the Meeting in Beaufort, NC this past weekend.
Fantastic job on the geometric patterns! How did you do that?

Getting the complex geometric three color paint scheme within reason has been a major challenge. Not going to say how many times I ripped it off and started over. That's modeling, huh?

Mark....I will indeed. Figured I would get it past the "boiling water" stage before I begin posting the more interesting stuff. To me, this stage is much like watching grass grow. Just placed the last plank on the hull to complete my first planking.....ordered a beautiful piece of Mayan Walnut which I will be using for her skin. Can't wait to take it to my sawmill and begin creating her skin planks. Thanks

Decided to build The Mayflower. Using Chuck's plan sheets (thank's Chuck). First planking of the hull completed. I am leaning toward Ilhan Gokcay's version.....enjoying his wonderful build log.

Just running across this discussion on my Confederacy. Been so long ago now..... I really appreciate the kind comments.
Be assured, I do not consider myself a serious historian of this wonderful art....just an old guy who fell in love with it and really enjoys the challenge.
