  1. You have got a real beauty there. The Royal Caroline makes into a gorgeous model but it not for the faint of heart. I hope you will let me sit and watch the fun. It was on sale but was outside my limited budget. Make us proud.

  3. Hello Henrik, welcome to MSW !! I'm building the Vespucci 1/100 (I bought it for 320 euros) and with the bowsprit is 100cm. But i don't know if you find it difficult or not . That will be your first ship? This is my second build and  tell you the truth... it's kinda difficult with the instructions of Mantua. I think you should look a more simple ship such as bluenose (this was my first build, and learn a lot of things on her).. This is only my opinion after all!! Glad if i can help you. Wait and from other members to help you regarding your question.

  4. Hello shipmates, this is my third attempt, in the world of ship modelling with this beautiful vessel. My admiral gave me an early gift for my upcoming birthday ...I had in mind to buy it as a present to myself on christmas time.. :D :D I have still a lot to do on my Amerigo Vespucci and i don't want start the RC right away. How ever, because i'm not the most patient man in the world, I decided to start this build log with some photos of the current kit. All the instructions on the large sheets with the plans are written in Italian . Of course  there is a book of instructions in English  that seems not to be at all bad. I have no big experience with wood quality , but the kit's wood seems fine. I will use the lime strips for a 1st planking and for the 2nd, i'm thinking -instead of walnut that came with the kit -of using some swiss pear strips. I also decided to change the walnut strips from 0.5 to 1 mm for the deck panking (or use lime strips). All items included in the kit are inside (no missing parts). :) :) So here are the photos....

    Kind Regards

  5. Hi Dimitris

Just caught up with your wonderful AV and it's really impressive just how good she's looking.  I also agree with Nigel (Upstate NY) because it is always nice to see the ship's furniture having such an impact upon the overall appearance of the ship.   The deck, also, adds heaps of value as well - nice and clean work.

I was also pleased to see that the Royal Caroline is your next build.  I reckon you'll ace it!

    All the best

    Patrick

Patrick , thank you for your kind comments about my AV and for all your likes... :D :D Greatly appreciated !! :)

    Kind Regards

    Dimitris

  6. Hi Dimitris,

Great to see the deck furniture starting to be added. I always really enjoying watching this part of every build...seems to make the model come to life.

Congrats on your Royal Caroline as well!

    Cheers,

    Nigel.

Thank you very much Nigel for your nice words !! I agree with you, that this part of the build is most enjoyable!!! :) :)

    Cheers

    Dimitris

  7. I came upon your build and admire what you have done so far.  After this the Royal Caroline will be a snap.  Just an Idea.  If you want to use pear for the second planking just fill in between the bulkheads and make it a solid hull then use the pear.  Keep up the good work.

    David B

Hello David, welcome aboard. Thank you for the kind words and also for the tip about the pear.. :) :)

    Regards

    Dimitris
