  1. Hello Heinz, just came through your build log,  ι had never thought until now to build the victory. Now I think about it seriously. Your work is outstanding , clean and precise.  I think that the choice not to use colors or copper is excellent. My build is all painted  as the real Vespucci is . Now for one more time I say that you have great skills doing such a beautiful work. I like the choice of different wood also....I will definitely follow along!! :)  :dancetl6:

    All the best

  4. Hi Dimitris,

    Thanks for your appreciation,

I noted that you had ordered portholes from RB for your AV, I used to Mount RB portholes with flanges as well before...., how is your experience with those, I remember that it was not so easy to fit the "glassings" in, in  order that they stay there and do`nt fall out, resp. into the hull afterwards

    Nils

I decided to use rb's portholes because i didn't really like the ones included in the AV. Actually i did not find it that hard to install them. Note that I usually paint the portholes first. As soon as the color dries I place the glassing using  tweezers and  then press it gently with my finger so as to fit in.  Lastly i install them on the hull. I hope you'll find it helpful. Feel free to ask anything you might need. :) :)

    Cheers

  5. Hello shipmates, David B-Patrick--Jeff-Nigel (NMBROOK) ,I appreciate your kind words of support . :)

Nils-Brian-Don-Nigel I do thank you for your visits to my build log and also for your likes. :)

I was thinking how to simulate the black plates under the eyepins that are placed throughout the deck. So i found these plastic pieces from packaging... I painted them black and i cut them in half . I drilled them, and then put the eyepins inside. 8 are ready, 72 to go...   Also the 2 windlasses on the stern deck are in place.

    Kind Regards

  6. Hello shipmates, Lawrence-Brian-Nigel-Mike-Patrick-David-Nigel, I do thank you, for all the likes and comments. :)  :)  The first thing i did ...Fixed my lamp... lol :P

So.. an update regarding the stanchions and hand rails on the stern deck, I cut the handrails as instructions point, this is the point that the big lifeboat hangs out. After cutting them off,  applied one coat of primer  and then i painted them white with a brush. Also i have ordered last week the 152 portholes from rb models ...and waiting!

    Kind Regards

So...work on the shipyard continues..The lamp with the magniffying lens above my head explode...And the first thing I thought,  after the proper language.. Oh darn !!! the ship...  I check the construction and everything it's ok!! :P

Here are some pictures with the progress of Amerigo... The instructions shows how to make these lines with a pencil..I did not like it  ..so i made this.. Then glue the furnitures on the stern deck, then the radar and then I start to place the stanchions and handrails to the stern's cap rail (i hope that this is a term). Sorry about the quality of photos but as i said above the lamp is out..

    Kind Regards

  8. I have never used that brand how is it to work with?

    David B

When i use it  with an airbrush  it needs thining with the 71.361 thinner (model air series). On the other hand, the model color series is made for brushes and there is no need to use thinner(distilled water)..It is very easy to use .. This my first time painting so many items with a brush and i'm quite happy about it. Note that these are acrylic paints. They have a very good result without having to breathe dangerous chemicals (I have two kids at home) . The vallejo Primer comes in three colors i think, Grey , black and white (see my post here No 86). Also  the Vallejo Premium Series has a fantastic matt varnish, code 62.062. This varnish is also used for protecting helmets against scratches. The bluenose was my first kit, i painted it 6-7 times before I came to understand how the airbrush works ,you know...lol , the thining, pressure and distance, overspray etc... .  I truly hope you'll find this info helpful..

Feel free to ask anything you might need.

    Cheers

    Dimitris
