  1. Hello shipmates, Captain Slog-Lawrence-Mike-Rich-Brian-Don-Greg-Nigel-Boyd , I do thank you for passing by mates and for all the likes!!!

Back to AV , i installed the stairs on the stern deck. The wooden stanchions are not part of the 1/100 scale model, only in 1/84 so i build them from scratch. It's time to glue some fittings on the decks... :)

    Kind Regards

    Dimitris

  2. Hi Dimitris

Just catching up on build log, have not been around the MSW Form for a couple of  month's now and it is about time to catch up on all of the great build logs here on the MSW Form. Super job you are doing on your great ship, with all of that very fine detail she sure is looking great and getting better with every visit,                                                                                         ENJOY

    Regards   Lawrence

Welcome back Lawrence, thank you for your kind comments and for stopping by!! :) :)

    Regards

    Dimitris

  3. Hopefully Panart have realised what a bad idea the balsa was :D .The book is extremely useful as a guide to providing more detail, however some 'creative thinking' is required as the hull lines in the kit differ from the book.

I spiled every plank from 1.5mm pear sheet on mine.Perhaps unnecessary, but I was concerned as the planks work out at 6mm wide.It did however take around a month of 60 hour weeks to plank :o  :o .

I look forward to following along and don't be afraid to ask,I am only too glad to help in anyway ;)

    Kind Regards

    Nigel

    Thank you very much Nigel.

    Regards

  4. G'day Dimitris.

Looking good! Is that a vodka and orange juice in the photo? If it isn't, you deserve one or two!

    Greg

Hello mate, lol no it's not vodka, just espesso with ice...If i continue to build those little things....i think... i'll need more than one or two... lol :) :) :)  Have a great day.

    Cheers

  5. More great work and congratulations on your new model Dimitris :) My kit had been sat on the shelf for a few years when I got it,it came with both lime and balsa first planking, letting the builder decide.I tried the balsa route and sanded it off and used the lime instead. If you get a choice,I would recommend using the lime first planking, the balsa is more trouble than it is worth ;)

    Kind Regards

    Nigel

Hello Nigel, thank you for stopping by. The kit has no balsa inside, only lime wood and walnut . I have in mind to use lime as the first planking and then i will order pear strips for the 2nd. Also i will change the 0.5mm strips for the deck planking with 1mm strips. When i saw your RC,i was amazed by the warmth of the wood. Surely I will ask for your help regarding the treenailing of the hull (and maybe, for some other parts of the construction) .... a step by step guidance...lol   Also i have ordered the book  "AOS for the Royal caroline". :)

    Regards

    Dimitris

I glued in place the figure of Americo Vespucci while as waiting various things to dry from paint. Also I assembled the bowsprit. Here are some photos with the Bowsprit in place (dryfit).

looks really great, this deck! ...

... I have to excuse me, if I capture your build log at this point - it was last august in holiday, Brittany (France) - and yes, of course, you were in my mind as I stumbled in on this picture ...  ;)

    All the best,
