Dimitris71 got a reaction from muratx in Amerigo Vespucci by Dimitris71 - Mantua - 1:100 scale
Hello shipmates, Edwin-David B-Nigel (UpstateNY)-Greg-Mike-Slog-Nigel (NMBROOK)-Patrick-Nils-Don , I do thank you all for your likes and nice comments!
I made a mistake and glued the bowsprit first.... As a result the stanchions and rails in the bowsprit area gave me a hard time to install and paint them properly!!! It took me a little longer than I expected..
Kind Regards
Dimitris

Many thanks for all the likes , wishes and visits to my build...
I have decided to change the workflow from the deck areas to assembling the masts.... The main mast tapered and painted with an airbrush (The white sections painted with a brush). And some photos...
Kind regards

Hello there,
some new impressions of the construction of the pinnace.
The demolding was successful without that something was glued.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback.
I gave the skylight parts a quick coat of Tung Oil last evening and am pleased with the results.
Today i shall see about the hinges and the other internal hardware and the Lexan.

Hi Patrick,
the black paint is a bit unusual for a large yacht, but I trust it will look great when the other complement colors are on as well. The blue-greyish prime coat you had on the hull before always reminded me of the Color of the huge "Maersk line" Container carriers.
Looking foreward to more of your "Marjellan"

Hi Nils
Many thanks for your comments about the paint.
You're right about the black paint being unusual, however, the real ship's hull is black, hence why I went for this colour. Personally, I reckon she'd look better in a more traditional white coloured hull, but at least this way, she'll certainly stand out from the crowd!
All the best

Hello shipmates, Marc - Greg - Jeff , I do thank you for your help and your suggestions... I was not quiet happy with the result, so, i took it of and i bought some new netting and installed it. I also used more fine rope to bind the net on the bowsprit. The result, for me at least, is better.... :D
Slog-Nigel-Boyd - Patrick thank you for pushing the L button... :)
The first photo shows the netting yesterday, the others the new one...
Kind regards

Hi everyone
Many thanks for all your comments and Likes.
I've given Magellan's hull a coat of gloss black (see photos below). Later on, I'll mask off the hull under water and paint it a matt red or blue.
You may also note that I've cut out the large anchor wells in the bow of the ship, as well as the hole for the bow thruster.
Still heaps of work to go!
Have a great weekend!
Cheers

Hi Frank - Many thanks! I must admit that the only reason that my model is taking so quick is because it's tiny compared to the larger scale builds, such as your Paragon for example. Regardless of size though, it's all good fun!
Hi Michael - thanks. I doubt that I'd chop the side of the hull off this time(!!!) because I'll make the superstructure able to be lifted off to reveal the interior details. Should look good...I hope!
Cheers Frank and Michael!
