Ah...talking about doubts and mistakes.
Initially, I was looking to replace the Norman Knights ornaments in favour of something more appropriate.
During 17th and 18th century apparently ships ornaments were often related to Greek/Roman myths or symbols.
So I went for a mermaid, trying the same approach according the "layer-system" provided in this kit.
 
Well...for obvious reasons, I thought I'd do better to stick with the Norman Knights...ahem...ahem.😉
 

And here we are : final result and my approach for the extra rope for the tacke rigging. ( dry fit )
There's  24 of them required, but I'll make some extra items and make a selection
Gentle push the rope upon the adhesive paper and try to make a loop using the tweezers. Then a very small drop of cyano en also gentle remove with a sharp blade.

I'm Massimo, I'm Italian, living and working in China since 20 years,  after few  month since my subscribe I decided to introduce my self:
 a couple of year ago I was building a model of Russian Frigate "Pallada" in POB,with  bad result  I decided to put it on hold, for sure I'll start over again ,moreover I  studied and read more about ship model and styles, and here I found out so many helpful topics and professionals ship builders.
pretty soon I'll start to open a topic on new model in admiralty style.

Oh and I pre ordered this as a 3rd addition to the museum, along with the Corsair. Keen try to different manufacturers.
 

I've been having a play with mixing colours and trying some pre shading for the first time in the cockpit. I'm trying to get somewhere close to this..
 

 
First I built it up and then primed it with Vallejo Black

 

 
Then fairly heavily pre-shaded with white, all paints are Vallejo Air range by the way. 
 

 
Then I mixed a combination of olive green, BS dark green, black, white and yellow until I thought it was close and then thinned to about 50%. Then applied 3 coats gradually. 
 

 
I'll let that dry now and see how it looks. Then I'll hand paint the rest and do some light weathering. As it's going to be in a museum it shouldn't look too shabby I'm thinking.

Amati Revenge Kit Comments:  Frankly, Amati will need to significantly up their game before I ever consider one of their kits. From what I seen, Syren and Vanguard is leading here by offering quality design and supplies, and they should be commented for it.
 
EDIT: This is mean to bring awareness, not a deterrent at all. 
 
The good:
1. Overall design:  Excellent, top notch
      Note:  paper template ok, but seriously this is NOT a paper ship. Wood inlays please or change the design.
2. Documentation: Excellent, top notch
3. Accessories (cannon and others): Excellent, would definitively use
4. Frame quality: good... nothing seen anyway
Edit: the sails seen quite nice material but have not seen other.
 
Now, with the bad:
5. Wood strips:  sub-par, cheap wood, need significant improvement.  I had to replace a lot. Frankly, I would change everything if I was doing again.
6. Wood laser-cut accessories:  Very brittle and cheap, not usable without significant re-enforcement
6. Masts:  ok, at least try to supply the same type of wood. Need staining for consistency (I prefer natural wood). 
7. Rope: very low quality, no one will use that
8. Blocks:  very low quality, disintegrate in your hand. Did anyone ever use that?
 
 
Overall: B-.   I'm sorry not worth the price as is. This is a shame BECAUSE the design and look are FANTASTIC.  You are basically paying for just that.
 
Be ready to spend at least the kit price or more in improvement for a good finish.  As a kit manufacturer, I would ask myself this:  Would the consumer, who will spend a thousand+ hours building a kit, be whiling to have sub-par end-result at a premium cost?

My test cuts are done and now it is time to sand them all correctly; some parts are already sanded to the lines. 
Since the wood is ticker that needed and once all parts are sanded (or before, will need to decide), wood need to be run thru the table saw or band saw to reduce the thickness to correct dimension.  
These steps might looks too much but need to test the process and tools required and "repetitio est mater studiorum".
