amateur got a reaction from mtaylor in Need Help Identify 2 Model Sail Boats Recently Inherited From Grand-Father's Estate
I think both of them arr models of the same ship: Cutty Sark.
With respect to value: they do not look alike very high quality model, so I suspect sentimental vslue exceeds market value.
Kit or scratch: difficult to tell from these pics.

Hi One and All
Thank you for all your welcomes.
In reply to Amateur, sorry it is not steam powered this is due to our water being in the grounds of a Public House, so no steam or internal combustion engines.
The enclosed photo is from the entrance to the bar looking up the water to our landing stage.

Okay, here is the bulkhead after surgery.
I wicked some thin CA into the cut edge, then sanded and painted the exposed surfaces, and glued the instrument panel in place.
One thing to note -- I'm aware that I've got two mismatched shades of green, but most of this will not be visible on the finished model. The second shot, with the aft bulkhead only dry-fitted, approximates the lowest viewing angle that will permit viewing into the finished cockpit. Even the bit of bulkhead behind the panel will probably not be visible, but I painted it anyway -- just in case.

Not my best, I struggled to get alignment with the poor superstructure.

Some really big misalignment issues coming to the fore here. Academy is not Tamiya or even Trumpy. Looks OK and it will never be a showpiece but nearly done now.

Although a lighthouse does not claasify as ‘non-shipping related’
Papershipwrihgt does have nice kits with loads of tiny parts. I’m trying to do one of the free downloads. Advantage of downloads: everything eaten by the carpet-monster can be reprinted.

Ah unfortunately I can't use that as an excuse Steven as Paper Shipwright tell you! 😆 - Four flashes and a pause of 15 seconds, then repeat.

Although pic 1 in post #1 suggests a normal (ie equal lengt) shrouds.
The photo isn't quite sharp, but it looks as if the seizings are in place, and the shroulds just snapped above the dead eyes.
In that case, the length of the shroulds should pretty much show you where the upper dead eyes would have been. Does that help in any way?

Right you are, Bill!
The reason that I will not labor to remake the bracket is illustrated right here:
The figures’ vestments will completely obscure the stool that they sit upon. In fact, those pesky clothes will obscure most of the detail I have labored to create on the forward side of the archway bracket. That is perfectly okay with me, though.
Vic, I suppose that a real-time video of me “whittling,” as my work friend likes to quip, would be intensely boring; ever watch a termite bore through wood?
As a near-sighted person for most of my life, I am adjusting to the mid-life reality of constantly removing my glasses for close work, while simultaneously resisting the pressing need for bi-focals/transition lenses. This is the status of my mid-life crisis.
I’ll post a picture of the three main brushes I use, a little later. They are great, but not especially spectacular; all synthetic, and totally in-expensive.

Ha! I use bifocals and 5x Optivisors for my modeling. Wait till your midlife crisis advances to senior crisis...
