CDW got a reaction from GrandpaPhil in 1931 Cadillac by CDW - FINISHED - JoHan - 1:25 Scale - PLASTIC
Dry fitting is absolutely mandatory with these older model kits. Lots of dry fitting. Every part/piece that's added will often change the overall fit. Modern kit tooling has spoiled us. These older models can be built nicely, but it truly is a lot more work to do it. That's one of the reasons I lose interest with a model like this. Not complaining, just explaining. If you want to build a 1:25 1931 Cadillac V16 Roadster, there is no other alternative, and may never be another. Who would spend the money necessary to tool these molds all over again? We perhaps be impossible to recoup the cost.

Added interior window cranks, door latch handles, and an instrument cluster to replace the poor raised details of the kit parts.
Getting closer to the finish line. 🙂

I know that my friend, I'm suffering from the type of car.
There is no door hardware except for a pull latch much like those on cars today. The dash has two oval gauges, a speedo and clock, the rest are arc type meter gauges and the gas gauge is a bubble vial type that actually had live fuel in it.... There is no aftermarket for them as there is none for this model.... One of the reasons it's been on the shelf for so long.... As has the V-16 cabriolet....
OOB is pretty much what you get with one of these....
Very Very nice roadster my friend, she looks much better with a full suit of clothes and jewelry, ready to prowl the town......
Great Job.....
Gonna be a stunner when finished....

Guns. Lots of guns, the little ones were for torpedo boat defence. These are all resin replacements and tiny compared to the kits provided parts. I replaced the resin barrels with brass as they aren’t any better but just stronger.
next are the torpedo net booms and nets.

The photo etch details are generic street rod items available from Detail Master. I have a box full of assorted photo etch details for my car models.

CDW reacted to Old Collingwood in Mosquito B Mk IV - FINISHED - Revell - My next non-ship project
Thank you Kevin, they had the fresh lakey ERK's give it a quick touch up then it did a few flights and roughed it a bit.😉

Just took these - they show the canopy glued down and touched up around the edges - also the rudder in place and hand painted.

Your Mossie looks very fine. I like it. I know you've labored over this model to get it right, and your efforts have paid dividends. A fine job my friend that would make your father proud.

After a good sleep I attacked the Mossie again I was able to gently rub off the splats on the wing (the stabs were ok) I then went in the back yard with my Dark grey rattle can (this was still ok - had not run out) so I sprayed the stabs - went ok, then I did the same in two coats on the main wing, again this looked ok - I put them away in the box to harden.
I then came in doors and firstly decided to glue down the canopy (no fuss just used liquid poly) I also decided to have a look at how the main u/c fits inside the wing box - I decided to trim off the edges then It slotted straight in, so I glued the front main u/c section in with ca glue, followed by the rear support legs - these needed moving about then securing again using ca.
I decided to do a dry fit with the wing temp placed to check for hight fit - looks ok I think?

I'll be painting the top in an off-white color.
I need to make a push to have this model finished by the weekend. It's getting boring and when that happens, it's finish it or box it up. Once I lose interest, it's hard to regain it. There are newer, better models that await and want to start.

Osmosis
Take a look at this build thread for the 1:350 USS Missouri here on MSW. It's going to be much the same as your New Jersey build and you may find some building/detailing tips that will fit nicely with your build.
