    Hello,

little update, here are the wrong pieces I must replaced with better ones.
I made building board of old furniture board. Also marked off space for keel( false keel).
Glueing keel with false keel together - I used PVA glue with black acrylic paint - It is not so good visible but maybe it come out with coat of varnish.
Last thing is unify joints for keel in every frame, I fixed frames on board with rectangular attached pin which fits to the groove for keelson. Then sanding until keel fits perfectly to the rabbet.

    Hello,

So I printed plans of frames, numbered them and glued them on 5mm thick wallnut sheet. here was important to glue the pieces straight and correct - as I later recognized and must redo 5 pieces, but with 9x11 pieces it was ok.
And then made a little dust in my living room with scrollsaw. I enjoyed this work and with my proxxon saw blades it was quickly.
I clean up ends of every piece , for this I has no machine, but for this was enough chisel and sandpaper glued on small rectangular wooden stick.
I glued each plan of assemly on a small platte 9mm MDF. And then try and adjust the pieces until it finally clicked together.
I glued them step by step I let the glue to dry and then added other pieces.
    Little training with treenails.

While the glue is drying I start to make the lower deck beams and the lower deck beam arms. On the fourth picture the deck beams are laid in the model but not yet fastened. Before I will do that, the lower deck has to be tree nailed.

While working on the inside planking and gunwale covers(lots of difficulty with the bow end) I decided to have more fun by doing the decorative parts to the backend.  Not in the right order, but I'm the boss lol    And I also made sure it wouldn't cause issues with any preceding steps.

Here is the rough layout, with a phishing wire run through the table leg, for pulling through the LED when it came in.  For the LED, I chose a 1.8mm flickering yellow LED from Evan Designs Shipworks.  He has tons of stuff and different colours for different applications.  The flickering effect is awesome and completely random.

To create the candle, I ran the LED through the leg and shaved down what I could to get as small a profile as possible.  This is also why the table legs were so thick, to accommodate the wire and hole I had to drill.  Then I wrapped dental was around the LED assembly right up to the very tip.  I painted the whole thing white, with varying thickness of paint, to give the glowing effect of a candle with the wick burning down into it.  Worked great, and pictures really don't do it justice.  Very pleased.

A little update to what must be the worlds slowest moving build log.  Coppering on the hull is pretty much done, the only piece still to do is the aft side of the sternpost which will need some work done on pintles/gudgeons finished before I can do...more to come on that in a follow up post.  Just for a cathartic moment for me, pictures of where I'm at.  Like others, I wanted to give the copper more of an aged patina, all personal taste. Rather than following the bodily fluid method used by others (I must confess to being worried my model would smell like a car park for evermore!) I experimented with a chemical from JAX called - BROWN Brass, Bronze, Copper darkener (they also make a 'BLACK' version which seems to work well).  I diluted this to around 25%-33% by experimentation which seemed to give the best results.  It takes a number of applications, and I simply 'painted' it on with a modeling nylon brush.  Found that rubbing and agitating the surface while doing this gives best results.  Initially, the surface is very hydrophobic, but once the oxidation starts, its becomes much easier to keep a consistent surface covering and beading is not desired as it leads to dark spots.  The more dilute solution tends to green more upon drying, but this can be easily wiped off with water and/or rubbing alchohol.  Personally, I didn't want a green monster, and was happy to have a little patina in the crevices/nail holes which is almost  a negative effect for how the plates are supplied.  I'm not planning to seal the copper (yet if at all) as this should then continue to age naturally, I very consciously forced myself to stop despite there being some patchy spots but these all blend in and to my eye have a natural look anyway.

Bunch of photos which hopefully show the copper plate pattern in various areas, hope its not overkill, these are the kinds of pictures that I find useful from others.

More to come soon on the rudder..
