Gerhardvienna got a reaction from Omega1234 in How to make old plans readable
Hi Lou
The jig system for small turned wooden parts is "stolen" from Johann @archjofo. I could not work without a lathe, that is one of the most worthful tools for model building. And useful for some repair works in the houshold too!
The patrol boat was my first attempt in scratchbuilding a boat, I must buy two new contollers to bring her back to the pond!
Regards
Gerhard

Hi Grant:
Late to the party here - this is some really incredible and exacting work - the metal work is especially impressive to me!

Thanks for the link. Nicely done patrol boat. I like the jig system you made as well. I am wondering if it could be made to work without the use of a lathe. All I have for rotary work is a drill press.

Hi Nenad
Just think...three months ago you were doubting your ability to do these boats. Look at what you've done now!
Top stuff.
Cheers.

Thank you!
There is a lot more to come, just working on the plans for the ship. There are no infos about her, so I will have to adapt other plans for the hull, maybe the plans to the russian Vladimir. But first comes the Cairo, lots of work on her too!

A very good build so far! Just hitting the "like" button is not enough. Top notch!

Ha ha now I noticed that the "practice pictures " I uploaded to learn how to upload showed! I added them and quickly removed them, I thought...
Well yes the gas is quite expensive. Well not that expensive but lots of tax. It is the price of gas and then a special "gasoline tax". After that 25% VAT is added. So a tax on tax so to speak, a Swedish speciality...
And no more photo bucket.

Some pictures finally! They are not that good but ok. I took them fairly quick just to get some pictures up.
Some more vacation coming up so no time to build or update for a few weeks. But these are hopefully better than nothing.
So whats left? Well attaching the upper wing, attaching the landing gear (which is causing some trouble as the space between the wings and the body is too tight for the landing gear struts to fit. Will have to do some thinking there. I got a nice tight fit between the lower wing and body only to find out that it is too tight for the landing gear...)
Then there is some covers over the "engine compartment" and attaching the wires for the ailerons. Oh, must not forget the raison etre for a fighter, getting the Spandaus in place!
Then it should, more or less, be finished. So maybe some time in October

Gerhardvienna reacted to Nirvana in US Brig Syren by Nirvana - Model Shipways
At my last visit in Seattle one of our MSW member cut me a perfect 15/32" x 15/32" stick to be used for the cannon ports.
The stick was cut using Byrnes table saw with micrometer.
Instead of marking of each bulkhead from a caliper I used the stick to get the correct height between the lintel and sill.
The stick turned out to be a good tool as well.

Don't be too concerned. I f you look at preserved galleys in the Istanbul Naval Museum, there are some imperfections in the run of planking. Models should never be "perfect" but they should be interesting and yours surely is.
