Gerhardvienna got a reaction from Elijah in USS CAIRO by Gerhardvienna - RADIO - live steam
Hi Elijah
Thank you!
She MUST come together , now the work starts. In times I dont glue frames to the keels, I`m studying plans and drawings from sternwheeler engines, so I will be able to draw and construct my own machine. All the plans I know at the time show too large engines, so I have to make a full new one.
Regards

Hi Nenad
I must visit that somewhen! I was just in former Yugoslavia when I was a kid, that was in Savudria, and never then. But as I know, there are so many great places to see!

Gerhardvienna reacted to Jerry's Admiral in H.M.S. BOUNTY by Jerry's Admiral - FINISHED - Amati - Scale 1:60
Hi Everyone..
Today is the day that Jerry said he was going to measure the model for a display case. I guess that means something...We are actually finished with our HMS Bounty except for some detail touching up, straightening out some rat lines, and deciding what to do with the sail sheet blocks that hang empty on most of the yards. I feel very good for what we have accomplished considering the physical problems we have had. Jerry's already talking about another build for him and that's a good sign that he feels optimistic about his upcoming surgery. I think I'm going to build the Nina as I fell in love with the little ship when we went aboard her replica in Naples a few weeks ago. I think Jerry is going to find something riggingless..(Yeah, I know that's not a word) .Here are some new photos as Bounty is right now and perhaps we'll have some more a little later on. It's been hectic and quite an experience for me but I definitely have the bug and wish to continue with this wonderful hobby. So, until a little later on...

Gerhardvienna reacted to archjofo in La Créole 1827 by archjofo - Scale 1/48 - French corvette
Hello
Gerhard, Carl and Giampiero,
about your interest I am very pleased.
Thank you for that, and also for the many LIKES.
The grating on the floor of the aft cockpit was a special
Challenge.
I think you can see from the plan, what I mean.
Full optimally has not succeeded. Next time, maybe.

Hi Bob
Nice job at those vents! I like to make them from plywood, i feel more confident with it. Styrene is a material i`ve never worked with.

It`s a bit late for "today" as I meant yesterday, but re-examining and overworking the frames took longer than I thought. Now they all fit well to the plans, and I can start with the building board, prepare the plans, and fix the keels to the board. Next photos will come when I`m doing this, then the real work starts!
Regards, and thank you all again for watching & likes!

Thanks Gerhard. I had never worked with Styrene either. When I was young it wasn't around for modelers. I usually build in bass wood and some brass. Lately I've started using card stock for some details, and after seeing kees de mol's builds, here in MSW, I had to give it a try. I feel we need to be able to use whatever material we can to make our models look as real as possible.

Gerhardvienna reacted to NenadM in Cutty Sark by NenadM
Hey Carl
Cannon I pictured seems a bit heavy for me too, but in crowd of visitors I can not find museum curator to ask him about origin and specifications of this cannon
Yes, there were some ghosts around, particular I was visiting, so called "Roman`s pit (fountain)", deep under ground level
Built in XVIII century by Austrians during occupation, and there is no connection (?) with Old Romans
There are several spooky stories about this location, even Alfred Hitchook at year 1964. was interestred in it as location for making movies
Also there was something in the air during visit "Shaikh Mustafa's tomb" (mausoleum) which was built in 1783 and was part of the Tekke (Islamic places of worship in which the dervishes gathered)
Kalemegdan fortress is extraordinary place with almost 1500 years of known history, full of historic and another stories. Complex of fortress is now park and historic area spread on 53 hectare (130.963 acre)
If anybody is interested, there is a nice article on Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgrade_Fortress
Also on Google earth you can find photos and get a idea how it looks
I can talk and write hours and hours about what I have seen and about history of Belgrade, but it will exceeding the frames of this forum, so I must stop
