small progress here..........side tracked with thongs to do 'round here and humidity.   haven't had this much of a problem with it here......but it has been play'in hell with the rigging.   we all know what happens when additional lines are belayed with it going on.........sag    but I've done my best to thwart it as I've gone along.   all of the sails are on the model now......that's a plus.....now it's time to rig them up.   the fore mast clew lines are set to be belayed.

with the main sails,  as they were cemented in place,  the lifts were rigged,  but not belayed.

....the main course sail..........and then the top sail lifts.

the top gallant yard was straightened out,  after it's bout with the carpet monster.......sewn........and added to the model.  just a hint of damage is all that's left.

it's lifts were added too..   once the lift lines are terminated,  the clew/sheet lines will follow,  and then I can work on the braces.   then the tack lines and the anchors.......and that should put the finish on her.

I find myself doing what I usually do during my visits here..........working on the model,  while browsing.   I'm getting the best of both worlds,  although one can be much more tedious than the other     I have done the main mast clew/sheet lines and started on the braces.  I also find that I had better look to see if the admiral has any more of this tan thread in her sewing box,  because I'm running out.   more updates in a bit

    Thank you!

There is a lot more to come, just working on the plans for the ship. There are no infos about her, so I will have to adapt other plans for the hull, maybe the plans to the russian Vladimir. But first comes the Cairo, lots of work on her too!

    Hi Nenad
I would make the boats with all interior, and then decide how to place them. Nobody will be sad, if they are not in a 100% original position. I think, a good way to show them, will be as shown in the second photo, and that single boat as shown in the first. But I would use no canvas covers, just to show the interior!

    Keith,
Here's two links.... Given that the way the market is changing and products being changed and improved, there's a lot better machines out there at reasonable prices.

You could have them like in the picture ... but without the covers.

OR, you could roll the covers halfway back ... like you did with the green hatchway covering.

From some reason, unknown to me, last couple of days some ghosts moved in my cellphone and in my PC, so I wouldn't post text in comments from cellphone, and I wouldn't enter to my log from PC ...
Also, from some reason, also unknown to me, now I can !
So, at first I want to thank you all for more than nice words, undeserved compliments, and generous support to my efforts

Jolly boat is finished, left to make oars, rudder and some more small content, and to move to Captains Gig and two lifeboats

And here rise one question. Please see attached picture on which is represented position of each boat on C-plans and in present stage

My idea is to place boats on such a way that interior of boats can be seen, also to allow clinker planks to be seen (if, accidentally, anybody can be so mad to watch under magnifier :D). With Captains Gig, i decide (for now) to turn it as on present stage, not as on C-plans. And there is aesthetic dilema with another three. Ok, Jolly boat can be easily turned as Captains Gig, and one lifeboat can be turned upside down. But it looks ugly ! Or, to turn all as Captains Gig and Jolly boat ( and then clinker planking can not be seen!) ?

Any idea how to solve this aesthetic  dilemma ?

Thanks Hamilton and welcome to the build - never too late for this party!

Another minor update of sorts. I had to re-visit the installation of the Engine Hatches as the hinge mounting failed. The hinges were initially epoxied to the hatches and then attached to the hatch frame with attachment tape (a type of double sided tape). The tape gave way, so I had to reconsider the whole setup. In the end, I made two shims from some scrap 3/64” thick Red-heart and epoxied these to the outboard side of the hinge flap. The shims were then epoxied to the hatch frame and held in place with map pins while the glue set. Once the pins were removed, I filled the holes with a few brass nails. Of course, the shims added just enough width to the hatch assemblies to prevent them from closing properly, so I then had to sand down the mating faces until the hatch would open and close properly. The photo below shows the completed “fix”, although touch up painting is still required.

I was then able to drill the holes for the 000-120 screws, which were then individually epoxied in place…..all 130 of them.  The heads of the screws were also aligned to the long axis of the trim piece, so that fore/aft trim pieces had screw heads aligned fore/aft, and athwartships trim pieces had screw heads aligned athwartships. It’s a little hard to see in the photo, but trust me…they are aligned!

And here’s an overall shot for perspective:

Proof of life...  At least I hope it is....

After testing my memory and eye-hand coordination (along with many and sundry "honey-do's"... I'm finally back.   Bear with me if my terminology isn't correct and feel free to correct it.  I'm still have some memory issues with words, names, and phrases.

First up... I've started planking the bulwarks. One strake done so far but it's a start.  And ran a production run on the Death Star and cut out probably 30 cannon carriages.  A lot more than I'll need of this size (gundeck only) but I want to have spares in case I tank a few.  Hmm... photo work needs more practice but damn if it doesn't feel great to make some sawdust.
