  1. Next are the trestles for the ship’s boats which go amidships. Skylights and cable reels. There are 4 sets of bollards which are not supplied by Infini and it is expected to use the kit ones on the plastic deck but there are very recessed into the deck once the wooden one is added. As such I used 1/700 battleship bollards which are the exact size. Next will I’ll be the ship’s boats.
  2. Infini provides chain but I didn’t like it and replaced it with spares and used narrower stuff for the chain stoppers.
  3. Forcastle area, there are so many little bits to add it has to be done piecemeal or I get lost. I still have a lot to add to this and weatherthere are about 60 coal scuttles added, and a few skylights.
  4. This is a shot of the Von Der Tan looking forward towards other battlecruisers with Seydlitz in the lead. Notice the side railings are all are all folded down and there are a mass of ropes and cleats for the anti torpedo net rigging. I am still pondering how I’m going to replicate this on the deck.
  5. Well done mate. It’s the start of a beautiful relationship......
  6. I find I need to take it in bite size pieces otherwise I get lost in the details and forget what goes where.
  7. The three main superstructures are done, there is a fold out flybridge to go yet but I need to do stuff to the deck which will place them at risk
  8. Welcome from Canberra
  9. It’s about the same as the Pontos Dreadnought I think and priced about the same. You’ll love it Carl.
  10. None of this is glued down yet, the deck appears to keep popping up. The bridge is next. Then the deck features, then figure out the deck rigging for the nets.
  11. The Lino is actually the correct colour, but I’m going to have to overspray the funnel again to lighten it up.
  12. No,the limo is sprayed. I tried to use three shades of red. I’m thinking of using another layer of red on the aft funnel.
  13. Main superstructures are now painted, a quick dryfit. I can now start hand painting and weathering then rigging. The guns are done just need weathering.
  14. Love this build. It’s such a lovely ship and you’re doing is justice!
  15. The aft funnel originally has two white bands added for identification, they were painted over as the war began but left in place. I replicated this with tape. The aft funnel was painted red when away away from the shore to identify her in the battle line then repainted grey when it came back to port. I’m going to leave it red because I can. I’ve added a platform not mentioned anywhere but the original photos and I’ll add a small brass steam whistle.
