    So, the 20mm gun tubs done up. The Pontos brass inserts were too big and required filing. A few ammo boxes as well.

    I just use a piece of post it note, it’s small enough to rotate in the hand whilst edging so it does not get too soggy. Cheap and you gets lots of them,

    Never seen this before, interesting technique. Would not use skin, that’s why I use acetone on all large pieces of PE now to help the primer stick, acrylics just won’t stick.

    That’s 3 packets of them! No way, considering I have to now do about 40 single 20mms as well.

    If it’s out by .5mm it’s all over. Does not matter, just wanted a bit of flexibility for what I have planned for the completed model. Anyways, I calculate it will suck up this many Carley Floats.

    Nice deep red! Be careful using normal masking take as it will lift at the edges or be very ragged. The Tamiya tape really is the goods for it.

    Ships cranes. Instructions tell you what the parts are and where they sit but not how to put the thing together. Just horrible. Not intuitive, not like the real thing either. I wanted them moveable but it just does not align properly, do doubt it’s my fault but instructions would have helped. A lot.

    Well, pain over, main mast done. 2 more main assemblies to do being the cranes.

    Today’s effort, the fore mast. These things are always a pain to build. I added the type 293 radar to it which used to sit between the forward secondary gun directors. The little radio room is not glued in yet (none of it is for ease of painting, so there needs to be several more ladders s added later plus more rigging.

    So Pontos barrels and ladders, handrail stanchions will be added after painting to keep them very fine. Pilot holes drilled, 1 unbroken.3mm left..... The A turret is simple, just needs some stanchions added for handrails, I added a hatch on top, and some windows at the front of the range finders. The B and Y turrets will have 20mms on them. Pontos gives you the option of the ‘’as Built” useless rockets for the ‘41 version. I trimmed off the blobs on top on top that were proporting to be ammo boxes which I’ll replace later. The back of the turrets have access hatches added. Masts and cranes to go as major build pieces.

    The main guns. As you can see from the reference there are multiple panels on the rear of the turrets, I imagine, for servicing. The kit and Pontos makes no reference to them at all. I have Soo many spare IJN ammo boxes I had an idea.

    Octtuplet 20mm cannons. Over a day’s work to do 6 of them, individual barrels, ammo cans, brass and resin. I wanted to do these up first to see how they fit on top of the main and secondary guns to measure up the railing stanchions that go on top of them. You can see the three piece gun in the centre is just no comparison

    OC, they’re Korean Banyan, the eyes start to cross and the concentration just goes completely which just means you have to stop.
