I’ve now done 99% of the painting and prep; these are the Black Cat replacement guns (the smaller ones are kit provided ones with the PE from Eduard and a replacement barrel. The three types of ships boats are from black cat and there is just no comparison.

I expect I can get Langley pretty much done over the next week or two; but here’s a new photo, the yanks first helicopter ship!

They are like brittle wax, about 20 broken in transit, and they are clumped together making it near impossible to remove them. They are very nice just near impossible to get off the fret. I think a different material would be a better outcome for them.

No, they took 3 month to get here are are so brittle they fracture at about 25% each which makes them horrendously expensive

It’s the same photo I’d say just a lot cleaner. As for camouflage I think it’s just shadow

I must say i agree. I see some parts are soo small that the glue used (even thin glue) would be bigger than the piece itself thus making it pointless. BUT PE is your friend.

Yes, that would have been an Aussie one. The little resin kits either lack details on the wings and Hull or the molds have degreased too much. so after 2 hours of masking the underside, and a few shades of grey and a bit of weathering, I can let it set until I can give a clear coat and put decals on.

The Catalinas. It appears from my research they were almost black, I just can’t confirm if they had the US stars on the wings.

I’ve done the seagulls up, also some little trollies for them to go on deck. I’ll only need maybe 2 or three of these so I’ll use the least crap as I’m rubbish at these horrible hard plastic kits.

Be cool to add them both….. yes, I thought I’d finally do some people …. As to the Kingfishers, if you zoom in on the photos from Darwin Harbour she had some on the flight deck. As well as Catalinas near her.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
