Hi Steve.  Just noticed you were building the Dory.  She looks beautiful!  So clean, crisp, and the paint looks great! Wow!
  2. Thanks!

I couldnt paint bulwarks pearl as i would ruín IT. So u leaved monkey rail pearl only. I like the single contrast. Its probably a bit on beige side but color dried stronger than wet  mix.  Painting already assembled pieces IS recipe fór disaster  or pain. So much pain. I did my hardest to Keep IT clean
building Up multiple thin layers...apology fór many pics i tried to see various overall feel and details ...still some places to finish...i still see some uneven blotches inside bulwarlks between columns... its very difficult to get brush inthere...hopefully one aldt coat there....
    Thanks for any input etc...V.

I'm still working in the area of the chain pumps. Getting the pumps to sit properly is a bit fiddly. Your basically there when the chocks are sitting flush on the mast partner and the deck and there is no rocking of the pump. In order to achieve this I had to shorten the tubes on the bottom of each pump.

In making the jeer butts and gallows I deepened the sheave slots on the mill. I used 1/32" and .045" end mills as needed. Then I inserted tiny discs to simulate the sheave. With a press fit, no gluing was necessary. I just applied some W-O-P over the sheave to better hold the disc in place. Okay, it's not PVA, but it does have holding properties and keeps things a whole lot neater.

I used some layered masking tape to help in aligning the pump while gluing it in place.

Before installing the rope for the beckets, the holes needed to be reamed out. The tip of the ropes were treated with CA glue to prevent unraveling while passing them through the holes. The instructions advise cutting a 4” piece of rope, but I ended up cutting 6”.

After knots were tied, watered down white glue was applied. When dry, the excess was cut with a sharp blade as close to the knot as possible. For the bow, a bit of excess rope was left after the knot. This looked cleaner than when I cut very close to the knot. Watered down white glue was also used to set the ropes into position.

Securing the base is next before rigging the buckets.

Congratulations and well done! Every model is a learning experience. Every one of us sees flaws in our work and vows to do better on the next model. Onward and up! Enjoy your next build.

Congratulations Lynn on finishing your Pram.  It is a great looking model and you should be proud of the work you have done.  It is really nice to watch you improve your skills with the two boats you have completed.  I am looking forward to seeing your build of the Phantom.  I have seen some really nice builds of this kit using Chuck's practicum.

It's DONE!  After a little flurry of work to re-do the rigging, it's all come together, and its done!  Wheeeee!  Happy that it's finished, but a little sad too, as i've enjoyed doing it and communicating with you all as I've gone thru this process.
Thanks to everyone for the likes, comments, and the encouragement.  You kept me going!
Special thanks and a shout-out to:  @Keith Black - your kind words and humor were a highlight!  @druxey - thanks for all the encouragement! @Tigersteve - thanks for the recommendation -  the Model Shipways Phantom is on its way and will be my next build!  @Cathead appreciated your words of wisdom regarding finishes and other build advice!
And thanks to many others who have commented and watched my progress.  It has been very much appreciated!

I've learned so much, and I can see all the flaws in this build, but I am happy with it, and will take what I've learned into the next project!  (and the dog has been helping me out too  )

Longboat is a great kit with great instructions, but I have to disagree with that as your next choice. The scale and the planking make it very challenging and it could be frustrating. You have many choices though. Message me if you want specifics.

I'm tired of sawing and sanding wood. I'll do some outfitting for a change. Start with the metal boiler. As long as the size of the parts and drawings accurately match, will not be affected by the hull deviation. The drawings are 1:36 and must be converted to 1:60(60% of the drawing size) before being made. In order to beautiful and firm, the main body using block copper milling processing, the basic use of riveting parts. The utility model avoids the unsightedness of the welding and the unsteadiness of the adhesive. The precision of machining is required higher.

This time I am constructing the fife rail in place to make sure everything fits and is square. And this time I remembered to install the thumb cleats before everything was together. 😅

Here’s a couple of reference photos of the presentation I’ve settled on. Let me know if it’s too “kitchen sink” with the extra oar stowed underneath the thwarts. The rope and thole pins should complete the look nicely. (I hope!)

While I craft the thole pins, here is option #2 for presentation. This was my original idea for the bucket placement. If you are following this log or just came across it, please let me know which one is your preference. Your feedback is appreciated.

A square strip is provided in the kit to create the thole pins. I rounded the strip and pre-painted before cutting 1/4” pieces. Test fitting before applying glue will give you an idea how much time is needed to set the pins.

After the glue dries, lightly sand the pins to the same height. Touch up the paint afterwards. It was difficult to capture a good photo of the result.
