Good Afternoon Boys and Girls and Ships at Sea.....we're back to the home port from our ventures along the West Coast. The RV thing seems to be longer and longer and might be a permanent full time thing in the future. Ships can be built in RV's so this could work, and all our tools are small enough to carry in a basement, so I could become a roving ship modeler. During the course of this trip, I have realized that it is difficult to communicate with all my friends here and keep up with everything. I have kept following all of you along the way, but not communicating since it wouldn't be "ship related" per the rules. Therefore, I have created a website concerning the Charles W Morgan. I invite all of you to visit frequently as it has a thorough detailed build log, tool and reference discussions, a Gallery and an email list form so that I can keep current with everyone who wants to follow along. It has a Blog and even a Ship's Store. The pictures that were lost a few months ago from this log are shown on my website instead of taking the time to try to figure out how to replace them here. The same amount of time would have been wasted. It is currently still being completed so please be patient, however, it is about 90%. I will continue to follow everyone's build and make appropriate commments as everyone progresses. I probably will only post significant changes to my log here on MSW and the majority of all other pictues and posts will be on my own site. I hope all of you will check it out, fill in the Contact form and follow along regularly. Everyone has been progressing nicely on their builds and I will be posting shortly. Please come look and let me know what you think. Please leave comments or email me.
Thanks guys, you're all the greatest,

My site will have in the Gallery photographs of the Restoration of the Morgan completed after 5 years and $7 million. Other Models of the Morgan, Other model ships in General, The 38th Voyage of the Morgan this past summer, My model of the USS Constitution, and who knows what else as this thing grows. I've already had a tremendous response and it's only been published Online for 2 days. I'm trying to feature tools, discussions and references with links to find them, so any input would be welcome. Thanks guys, please pass on the link and information.

Congrats Aug.....can't believe it's been a year. Looks great as usual. We're in Custer, South Dakota for a couple of weeks. Then we're down into Colorado, New Mexico then eventually home to the ship yard. I think I forgot what the Morgan looks like...keep up the good work, now the fun begins...deck stuff.

As usual, you amaze me with your metal work. Look's ready to fire at any time. Hope all is well with you and Gwen.
Take care my friend, and keep up the good work.

Ahoy Mate, just catching up again. Hope you and Sjors managed to stay out of trouble recently....I didn't see any International Incidents in the news. Take care and I should be back in the shipyard in Sept or Oct.

Well, today was one of those bucket list items, and well worth it. We are camped on the Columbia River between Oregon & Washington, and drove up through the Columbia River Gorge. God's beauty never ceases to amaze! Actually in our opinion it surpasses Yosimite. Off tomorrow to Mt St Helens and Mt Ranier....we're staying in between them on a lake.

Hey Scoot, thanks for that pic, that has got to be an awesome site in person.
John, the way I take it, is whaling ships would pick up new whaleboats from different builders to replace damaged ones where ever they docked at, so they could continue on with they're voyage. So they probably were not all the same.
docidle, I don't mind at all if you copy what I am doing.

I'm on the home stretch with the lower shrouds.

I made a change on the way though. I was every once in awhile stretching the distance of all 5 shrouds with the battens, because that's what the plans showed. But, I couldn't find this in any of the photos that I have. So I removed that part of the batten.

My neighbor here in Crescent City lives in his RV and is a fisherman....yesterday he gave me about 6 filets of Black Snapper....yummm

I live on the CT RI line. I am also into a build of the Morgan myself. I visted the ship in Mystic during the restore, then in New Lodon CT, and then last week in New Bedford along with the Whaling Museum. There is nothing better.

texxn5 got a reaction from lambsbk in USS Constitution by lambsbk – Revell – 1/96 - PLASTIC – With Fiber Optics
Hi Dave, when I glued the pinrails to the hull I used regular Testors plastic glue. When I first started tying to them they came loose so I CA'd them to the hull and didn't have any future problems. As for the pins themselves they were so thin that the cement melted them which is why I would drill out and replace them if doing a plastic model again. On mine also the molding was so bad that many of the pins just weren't there as if they never filled up the molds. I also had 2 kits and both were equally as bad.

Ah.. I see... you're doing a great loop.  I'm no help for Portland or Seattle as I avoided them like the plague.  Do you have the RV'ers Bible (if I remember the title right)?  Big book that listed every RV campground in the States and Canada.

Hi Mark, we might be in Oregon next week. Not sure of our route yet, probably up the coast as far as Florence, then across to the mountains. Some 90+ would feel good to this cold Texan!
