Wow - impressive workmanship, Augie - looking very good!  I did have to look up that thar high falutin word you used...and used quite appropriately, might I add!

noun (plural armamentaria), a collection of resources available or utilized for an undertaking or field of activity

Thanks, one and all, for the kind words.  While still a bit sore and not yet back to "normal", the fingers are more flexible and less painful, so have put some time in on the HL this weekend.

Just prior to our packing, the main top mast snapped off right at the cap.  I had repaired it, but alas it did not survive.  Spent the weekend manufacturing a replacement (used a long toothpick as I was out of suitable dowel and didn't want to wait for an order to come in).  While waiting for primer and then paint to dry, I installed the several blocks onto the gaff.  Once the top mast was put into position, I rigged the gaff on a temporary basis just to see how it would look.  I think I need to replace the synthetic kit supplied thread with something better.  This doesn't really want to relax.

Still working on a replacement for the jibboom.  Sanding a 1/8" dowel down to 5/64" and it is taking quite a bit of time.  Of course, if the Dremel had a good charge it probably would have been much easier.

Here are a couple of photos of the main mast with temporary running rigging.  Hope you all had a nice weekend!

Hi Sjors, thanks for the kudo's.  Yes the table is getting more crowded.  We'll just bring our woodworking tools and add on to it.  I guess I have now joined the official Gas Bag's Table.  I believe you must be lonely at the "Big" table though.....

Very nice work.  Athens is one of my favorite cities.  Been there many times, and spent 6 weeks there in 1972 while in the US Navy.  I was on the aircraft carrier John F Kennedy.

    Nicely fitted deck, Augie.

Couldn't you get some from east of the Mississippi?

    Chapter 3 has been completed.

I mentioned previously that the last bit on the stern was the addition of a few fillers.  This turned out to be an exercise in Olympic-level Freestyle Sanding...but I think the fairing came out OK.  So here's one last pic of the stern framing (I promise):

Yes, JP, the pencil sander came in handy again.  I'm sure both Proxxon and this Microlux are both worthwhile.

And that brings us to the false deck.  It is 1/32 ply, laser cut and supplied in 4 pieces:

Amazingly, the 4 parts slipped right in without any sanding whatsoever.  I laid them in one at a time being careful to line up the lazer drawn alignment lines around the hatches and masts.  Checking RustyJ and Trussben's logs, I decided to glue the decks down using 6 minute epoxy.  There are not enough clamps West of the Mississippi to use PVA.  The epoxy gave me time to maneuver and, with just weighting each section for about 20 minutes apiece, the job was done.:

She's back on her keel now and ready for starting gun port framing.  She's growing up

Hi Randy, sorry to hear about your loss. Computer crashes can be devastating. I had mine stolen in Costa Rica when I lived down there and lost all my pictures from many years. I had them backed up to an external hard drive, but they got that too. Congrats on the promotion, welcome to the table.....we'll add another chair to the "gas bag bunch"...

no.......I think I have it right......you've totally ratlined the first steps,  fore,  main,  and mizzen.   you've shrouded the second steps,  fore, main,  and mizzen.   you still need to shroud the third steps on the fore,  and main..........the mizzen won't have any,  and you need to shroud the bow spirit....that's three sets left to do.

still..........it's some pretty sweet work your doing

As far as speeding along --- framing is in my wheelhouse from my airplane background.  Very soon we'll be back to shipwright mode and it'll be 'All ahead, SLOW '.

Congratulations on your promotion Captain John! Come join us at the windbags' table. It's not quite as windy as at the flag officers' table with Sjors, but we make up for that in numbers.

    Hi John.
Just getting caught up with your adventures. Thanks for taking us along. By any chance, did you make it to the Mariner's Museum in Newport News when you were in VA? The models of August Crabtree are what got me inspired to try this hobby. Looking forward to see more from your travels. Wishing you safe travels. Btw, that was pretty impressive pulling an RV through NYC!

Poor Sjors is lonely at the flag officers' table.  He only has Andy to order around last I heard.
