I used the Hahn method for frames and have spend many hours on my LeRo and in the end I’m going to scrap the entire project. I made serious mistakes in haste because I didn’t want to cut each frame piece individually. The joints of the frames keel and keelson are very very critical. I succeeded with my Blandford section by doing the frames piece by piece and the correct way. I didn’t want to spend the time doing it on this model with bad results. By all means glue up the frames over the template leave them all larger all around and sand to shape. I’d hate to see you in the position I am in.

I'm interested in how you found the instructions. Were they detailed enough that many questions didn't have to be asked or were they lacking ?? Great work.

I think the larger scale would be much more impressive when done also easier to work with the larger parts. Yes though, where to put it when done is an issue.

Hi Mark, Haven't checked in for quite some time. I've been busy building and flying balsa planes. Your progress is really is fantastic. You're maintaining the exacting accurate work you started with. Your work will continue to be my major reference. Hoping to get back on mine in a couple months. Love your shop ! Tony

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
