Colleagues, I need help. I am looking for a drawing or high-quality photograph of a 750 mm searchlight that was installed on ships of the US Navy at the beginning of the 20th century. The same spotlights were on Varyag.
-
Eberhard, you have impressive progress. I look forward to an interesting continuation, especially the gun!
-
Colleagues, thank you for your feedbacks! No, I'm not a watchmaker. I have an easy scale, only 1/75. And watchmakers jeweler work on a smaller scale 1/160.

Keith, this is a very interesting continuation of a wonderful work. I continue to watch her with pleasure.
-
Thanks to all who follow my topic! Manufacturing crane for anchor. The first step is to support the crane....
-
Gary, I am very impressed with your work on the diorama. And your fisherman turns out just as wonderful.
-
Thanks, Rob! Yes, this is black paper. At the beginning of the paper is glued to the wooden plank and then it is glued to the deck. I agree that this is a time-consuming operation, but over time comes the experience and speed of installation of boards increases. The longer the board, the less effort it requires.
-
Eberhard, could you explain in more detail about the sanding filler? Perhaps the translator is incorrect.
-
Keith, in order to protect myself from mistakes on the model, I try to always conduct an experiment with the material. This black paper passed the exam!
-
Yves, Protecting the wooden deck during painting makes the whole process a little more difficult. But this is order. Before painting the hull it is necessary to install all the metalwork and for this you must first lay the deck boards.
-
Jean, as long as I did not put the wooden rusternye lattice version from Keith may well exist. But if Kate insists on the execution version, then hanging on sailyard is still preferable.
-
Yes, Eberhard is right, the problem is solved with the help of a template. First cut out of paper pattern of the inner contour. Then I scanned this template and put it on a computer in a vector program. Now it remains only to draw the part and solder it from brass.

Doris, thank you for your kind feedback about my work. Do not cease to admire your gorgeous model Royal Katherine !!! And I remain a fan of your talent and golden hands.!!!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
