Question: I made a wooden gearshift knob, lacquered it with a car clear aerosol gloss lacquer - multiple layers - but it is getting whitish now - most likely humidity - what can I do about that? Should I use a two component paint, or can it be the wood?

AK makes a salt product but you need to use it very sparingly as it’s bloody strong, thus I did a white diluted undercoat L. They have a tutorial on Utube
used it on one of my destroyers, maybe it wasn't as strong when I bought my pot of stain

My plan is to have one lowering a torpedo on one side forward and picking up cargo on the other side aft
As long as you do not load the cargo on board your subs, when those are low on explosive cigars 😇

Best wishes to you and yours too.

Now a bit of hand chipping
Shrunk yourself?
Did you use chipping fluid or painted/splashed it on?

I keep a tube of Duco cement on my workbench. I use it for temporary glue joints such as the brass/plywood sandwiches that I make for ripping brass strips on my Byrnes Saw. The cement allows the plywood to be peeled away from the brass strip after sawing.
I buy mine at our local Ace Hardware. A tube costs less than $5.00.
Roger
Rogert, what blade do you use on your Byrnes for ripping brass strips?

Great idea, filling the cargo holds. I might steal it for a future build. You are running at top speed again. Lovely work on the hull and holds

Well done mate. Must have been rather nice to be amongst 500 models and bring home prizes!

Can't you make 5/16 rolls of parchment, quite sturdy and you can "slice" ringlets off ....
I'm getting older, so my response time leaves some what to be desired

Lovely build as per your usual...
Look forward to the sub build, since I’ve got that one in my stash too.

You haven't even started and are already nearly finished!

No holes in the deck. It's not a sub. and having such an entrance wouldn't be practical in high seas, besides, these ships weren't known for their luxury, more discomfort ...

Why not put her in drydock again ... not sop messy with the water

Thank you Joseph. In this case the lacquer was already dry for several months, but certainly worth while remembering!
