How did you cut the rabbit? I looks very nice.

Sadly, I don't honestly remember...I do remember marking lines on the top and side as a marker,  and I believe I might have used a small plane on the keel, and I believe I used a dremel tool on the curved piece of the keel towards the front.

  2. Thanks for looking at my log and I hope it helped!  I found referencing the photo on the box helped more than the instructions for rigging.   I did it once and ended up taking it all apart.

finishing these projects is difficult for me as I get easily distracted sadly.

I’m about to embark on the rigging of my Jolly Boat. The instructions a vague at best, but by looking at your log it has cleared a few things up.

Anyway, well done on a great first build.

I still have a lot of work to do,  I’ve also noticed I’m quite a bit of wood short.  So I have been taking from my victory section kit which is also Corel. (Same wood)

Which is making me really confused. The pictures look the same, and i don't think i have any different "planks" to use. I have no idea what the x 220 would be... what is that?

You are correct that the last number is the approximate length of the “plank”.  Same material, same width and thickness,  but they are telling you the length.  All being cut from the same piece.  I have numerous kits with similar instructions.

I'm rapidly approaching the point where I have to finalize the display base and case. I want to complete them before I begin setting the mast and starting the rigging. For the display base, I ran across this pic on google photos that really appeals to me, I believe I'll do something similar (if anyone has more info on this picture, LMK). The original boat extended about 1.5 feet below the waterline, so in scale that's about 3/4 of an inch. I'd like to build a lake bottom and shoreline and then do multiple resin pours to "imbed" the boat about 3/4" in the resin "floating" about 1 inch over the lake bed. The bow will be beached as in the picture. I'll put some rocks and trees on the shore, and include the gangplank and some securing lines to shore. Let me know what you all think, and any suggestions or tips on how to do this.

Again, thanks for all the support and kind comments, please feel free to critique and suggest improvements on this build.

    Cheers,

I don't know where I got the idea that it would get easier on the bottom. But man was I wrong.

I thought I would have this off the build board today. Maybe next weekend.

If you look in my log I think I said the same thing about being done by the end of the week...nope it was another two weeks atleast lol.  Yours is looking beautiful!

Did you decide how you want to finish your canoe? I'm looking forward to seeing it completed.

Not yet... out of all tasks, I feel like painting and staining takes the most motivation for me.  Even though I find when I do it, I over thought and it was simple and quick.  My concern at this point is how am I going to stain, etc., the inside with so many surfaces.  Where as the exterior is a smooth surface.  I’m hoping Art finishes his and I see what he does 😝
