realworkingsailor got a reaction from augie in San Francisco 2 by Shaz - FINISHED - Artesania Latina - Wood
Nice job with the second planking
I always say, when you're not sure about a certain finish (paint or stain or whatever), make a sacrificial square of the same material so you can test the outcome...before putting yourself through what you just went through. Hope you get her all remedied to your satisfaction nonetheless.

You Uncle Pauly must work in the same field as my Uncle Guido...Guido is actually a kneecap specialist

No thanks....I prefer to use my Uncle Pauly....
If someone posts something that is copyright...we are really good about that. We almost immediately remove it. I am not worried about that. Most folks are reasonable and after talking to the original author we would certainly remove it. Its folks stealing stuff that hard to deal with...But my uncle said its real easy....he starts with the pinkies.

Well, I've not opened a bottle yet: maybe when I will have a case done for Le Camaret... And as I don't have a clear idea on how to rig the legs yet, I leave that for when I have a chance to go back to the seacoast (Remark 2013: not done yet...) and I give you a few more shots of my now finished model:

She does not have a case yet but she is now at my parents', having survived a three-hour train trip in an overcrowded wagon last Christmas with only one wound: a ring connecting the "upper gaff?" to the upper part of the mast broke. It was easily repaired with a new brass ring and she now stands proudly in my parents' bedroom waiting for me to come back and fetch her!

How have you managed to keep all this straight?!
Not one, but two lobster boats...the America, the Gothenborg (am I missing anything?), and now this!
You're keeping us all busy following along

Hi Andy, great job in 'cherry-picking' your photos; that's a great summary of your build. I particularly like your quarter badge window modifications.
cheers

realworkingsailor reacted to Barbossa in HMS Diana By Barbossa - Caldercraft - Scale 1:64 - The 1794 Attempt
Thanks, Joe & Sjors
It's good to be in touch again with all you fine people.
Still have to find my way, but I like this new edition .
(Hi Andy, also trying to put you on my friends list)
My stern is desperate for at least one lamp, tried to make it from scratch but there I encountered my own limitations, I'm afraid. So aside from some extra canons, I ordered for some figurines and also a set of lamps.

realworkingsailor reacted to Barbossa in HMS Diana By Barbossa - Caldercraft - Scale 1:64 - The 1794 Attempt
Hi All,
Only when I encountered some difficulty while trying to login, I realised what happened last week.
By re-signing in I'd like to support and express my respect & gratitude to all Adminitors who are putting lots of effort and commitment into this site.
Some data are lost but worse thing may happen in life, I guess.
Anyway, here's my actual status :
As I chose for an open bulwark build, one of the consequences was that I had to adapt the dimensions of the gunports at the quartedeck. Meaning : now they are all the same and the only carronades left are the ones at the foremost position.
Therefore I ordered for some extra 9lb guns which I intend to fully rigg.
Greetings to you all
Christian

Well... this might take some doing... Although it's a shame to be starting all over again, at least the platform is still here. I don't remember a thing I wrote over the last 11 months or so, but I have all my photos. I'll cherry pick the best that illustrate my progress, avoinding the pointless ones....(I hope )
So this first post should go from the completion of the frame to the completion of the first planking.
I'll keep the blah-blah short so if there are any questiong, just let me know...
Andy
