Rigging complete, really very simple on this one. I have now replaced the three 12.7mm high altitude guns, these are so much nicer than the Flyhawk ones. I also threw in the 2 quad torpedo tubes. Coming together.

Papa reacted to leginseel in HMS Bounty by leginseel - Constructo - Scale 1:50 - First wooden kit build
Hi All, I've been busy with what seems small but time consuming stuff. The heat here at the moment hasn't helped as we've been up around 44C (111F) for a few days now. Hopefully this is coming down this week but it doesn't make me want to sit over a work bench!!
I made the tiller house a little while ago as per the kit instructions I didn't feel that it was good enough so I clad it with Mahogany and stained it Dark Oak and I think that it looks better.
These first two are as per the kit
Now after Cladding
Now after staining. I'll give it a coat of Sanding Sealer before I glue it in place.
I've also made a start on the Rudder.
I need to tidy it up and fit the 'bolt' Heads and stain/paint as my next job. I'm hoping to have it done and fitted before I go to England in a week or so.

Papa reacted to leginseel in HMS Bounty by leginseel - Constructo - Scale 1:50 - First wooden kit build
Hi Everyone, been fairly busy over the last couple of days and completed (with a little bit of tidying up to do) the Wales and Bulwark Strakes. The kit says to build up the strakes edge on edge, which is fine if the ship was going to be left as natural wood but as I'm painting it I decided to make it in one piece. The Wales are also painted and I'd be interested in your opinions over the colour of the upper Wale as I've left it as natural wood colour and not matt black like the other two. Anyway here's the photo's.

Papa reacted to catopower in Shinmei-Zukuri Shrine by catopower - FINISHED - Woody Joe
Well it's done! I finished Woody Joe's Shinmei-zukuri shrine model. It took a while since I was documenting the steps – just posted the 8th and final part of the build.
Here are some final pics. If your interested in building this or any other Woody Joe kit, as always, I highly recommend buying from the Japanese online hobby dealer Zootoyz at http://zootoyz.jp.
You can read the final post on this build here: https://shipmodeler.wordpress.com/2017/05/23/building-woody-joes-shinmei-zukuri-shrine-part-viii-completion/

Hi Carl,
I'd love to know the name of your book on Japanese temple construction. I think I could learn a lot from something like that.
In the meantime, I just posted Part V of my build, which puts me just about half way through completion of the project: https://shipmodeler.wordpress.com/2017/05/04/building-woody-joes-shinmei-zukuri-shrine-part-v/#more-3716
Here are some photos...
Thanks,

as I am building out of card to ascertain the layout, I have simply broken the superstructure into modules, so i have now done a mock up of the bridge, there is simply mno point in putting in windows at this time, I am keeping the card version as simple as possible, the final version will have a internal bridge layout with lighting

Or you COULD go the other way - build a full model AND a Cross-section of the same to show some of the interior detail that can no longer be seen after hull and deck planking :

Papa reacted to JohnB40 in Cowboy Chuck Wagon 1860 by JohnB40 - FINISHED - Model Trailways - 1:12 Scale
Greetings to all,
Well the diversion into wagon building is completed. I have enjoyed building the kit,and it is now back to the ship construction for me. It was nice to have a project that could be completed in a shortish period of time,as I have been working to make Corel's Unicorn into a reasonable rendition of a 'first frigate' for quite a time.
I have left the canvas cover in my wife's hands. I decide whether to attach it fully covering the bed or folded up when she is finished.

Hi Mates,
Well sails are all done. Now for attaching them to the yards, (adding all needed blocks etc.)
Here comes more learning. How to actually attach them. Anderson has this. I also looked at the 1/10th and each rope is separate and unto themselves with each having separate knots.
Then there is the Tack knot.
I did find this online
Along with this link

That’s about it for now – glad that I went for the sails – very satisfied (well they are not installed ha ha)
Cheers,

Papa got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Chaperon by Papa - FINISHED - Model Shipways - Ron Gove
I got the stern wheel in place and am working on the rigging. She is very close to being finished. As careful as I was on the paddle wheel, it is a bit skewed. I think I should have added the planks alternating on opposite sides to relieve stress. Anyway, it isn't noticeable. I was very unhappy with the look of the laser cut anchor decoration on the smoke stacks and ended up making one out of styrene and leaving it unpainted.

I received the needed strip wood from Model Expo. They are really great at supplying missing or broken parts. Now waiting for the red paint to dry so that I can finish the paddle wheel. In the meantime I've started rigging the front boom. The lines are very fine and don't show up well in the photo.
