  4. Hello Per and welcome from a long way away in Australia. But, although I have never visited your country it is strong in my heritage with both grand parents being Danish. My grandfather came to Australia around 110 years ago and was a leading figure in the Danish Club. I am also 65 years old. But the similarities end there, your work is fantastic and I am on my third model. Love your work, well done. You wish welcome from ‘sunny Denmark’.... where I live in Canberra is usually sunny, and can be very hot, but this nearby hills last week...looks more like Europe?
  5. Hi Jackie Warm welcome to the forum from Canberra, Australia. Good luck with your new hobby. Australia is usually pretty hot but last week looked a bit like Canada so a good week to work on my scratch build cross section. Mike
  6. Welcome Guy, sorry that you are in poor health at the moment, ship modelling is a fantastic way to take your mind into happy and relaxing...sometimes frustrating...places. Good luck and enjoy. Mike from Aus.
  7. Just letting you know, I signed up to the digital offer and you do not get any plans with the magazine. I had already purchased back issues just for the plans but when I contacted them they were adamant that they would not supply digital plans with the digital magazines. Very disappointing.
  8. Welcome from Canberra, Aus. I hope you try wooden boat modelling, it certainly is a challenge but very worthwhile is you develop your skills. There are lots of great resources on this site and lots of members happy to help. Mike

  14. G’day Andrew, welcome from Canberra. Likewise, I am reasonably new to this hobby and this forum. My current build is a scratch build cross section of Essex.
  15. Hi, may I say that not only are you not the only member from Oz, but you are not the only member from Amaroo, ACT. Nice to have you on board.
  16. Greetings and welcome from down under. I am also a recent member and very much liked the welcome I received...so welcome.. you should enjoy this hobby.
  17. Thanks all for your encouraging responses. Where am I in Oz? Originally I was from Victoria (Blues supporter) but in 2000, I took a two year transfer to Canberra and have never escaped. I couldn’t find a supplier for the planking so had to cut my own on the bandsaw so it was a bit thicker than I wanted which made assembly difficult. Hence a need for a little bit of filling and this shows on the finished product. Also, turned brass bits were done in a drill, very difficult, I now have a lathe on order so this will make things easier in the future. I will work out how to do a build log for next project. And Jonny007, love your country and one day I hope we can visit again. Mike
  18. Hello, I am Mike from Aus. I am new to this craft and forum but am very much enjoying learning from you folks. I have just finished my first scratch build, a rough interpretation of the Baby Bootlegger. Reasonably happy with how it turned out and it was certainly a challenge. Main issue I had was with the filler. Thought I might share a couple of photos. My next project, not sure, but I think it may be a whale boat. Thanks Mike
