yamsterman reacted to KenW in Independence 1775 by KenW - FINISHED - Scale 1:48 - American Privateer
The anchors were installed, including the buoys. Plus I chose the Ensign of the New England Navy. It was in use from 1775 through 1777. I’m flying it from the gaff. To make it I followed Chuck Passaro’s method from his log of his kit of the Queen Anne Barge which can be found at ‘https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/12476-syren-ship-model-company-news-and-forthcoming-new-projects-products/&page=34’. His method worked and I’m really pleased with the flag.
As a result, the model is finished. I attach some final photos.

yamsterman reacted to Jeronimo in ROYAL CAROLINE 1749 by Jeronimo - FINISHED -1/48 scale
Hello Model Friends.
After much research and more considerations,
I decided to build the model of the "ROYAL CAROLINE 1749".
The history of the Royal Caroline has been written x times,
so I'll give up on more details.
After the sparse construction drawings, as well as various to scale without
drawings in the book by AotS I have strong doubts about the success of the project,
but I try it anyway.
The plan drawings by Boudriot, Delacroix from ANCRE publishing house, on the other hand,
are top class in their own right, i very first cream.
Thanks Mike for the help of the frame drawings.
To the model:
Scale: 1/48
Wood: German Elsbeere
Overall lenght: 655,0 mm
I will build the model with visible frames from the second barwood,
as well as the interior.
I have already installed the "backbone" of the model on/in the slipway building board.
There are no photos of the individual parts, smoothly forgotten.
Next step is the construction of forty-five douple frames, each frame consists of twelve parts,
so I am busy in the near future.
Karl

hi will
look forward to you starting your log
with regards to the stove.......silver solder paste as used by jewellers was the prime "glue".
comes in three basic forms low temp medium temp and high temp.........start with the high and work down to the low for the final bits.
i did try using two part epoxy on a previous attempt but was not happy with the results.
cheers....mick

hi again
i forgot to mention in the previous post that a little help is required.Regarding the lateen rig. The plans show only the basic position of the ropes.
my knowledge of lateen rig is scanty to say the least.
some help with regards to how the ropes were attached to the yards and how the ropes were joined together (see photos) would be gratefully received.
cheers....mick

Hi all
On a slightly different note a lovely slab of beech arrived the other morning for the new workbench.
Still got to make some drawers for the left and right sides.....vacuum lived in the middle!
Bench top is 2m in length.....plenty of space for tools!
Just waiting for the danish too dry.
Cheers.....mick
