Believe it or not - the small parts are actually easier than the big ones. Well, most of the time anyway .

Jan, if you can see them at all use a pencil to make them more visible while you're fitting the parts together. Then just rub out the pencil mark when you're done.

Without trying to sound too critical Jan, if something needs that amount of pressure to make it fit that it cracks the hull there's some sort of problem that should have been fixed before gluing. If all things are right you should only need enough pressure to keep the joint tight until the glue dries. It looks to me like more "dry fitting" may have prevented this unfortunate incident.

I think the framing card is far too thin for a model of this size. Most kits use card of 1mm thickness for the framing, which is strong enough to support a small car (maybe I exaggerate a little ).

Another thing to watch out for, and I've had this problem when I first started using card, is to use as little glue as possible. Too much glue softens the paper which can cause it to buckle.

As you will see from the next lot of pics. I've now glued on all the upper panels, and most interior detail has vanished. Here are the bits you CAN still see (just as well I took lots of pics earlier ) :

Pretty tight quarters -- especially if the crew were sharing it with, say, an 85 mm AT round.  😳

As I wrote last time, the 'normal sized parts are done....
    The stanchions for the deck:

the lights (other side is red :))

    skylight...

all put together, and as usual, the naked eye (at least, mine) is more content with real life than with the pics. My admiration for orher card modellers goes up by the minute

and now for some small fun: and put together, it looks rather OK

Tonight I'll try the other side of the ship (same parts, nothing new...)

Fixed . A tip for those who don't know - don't simply hit the "Quote" button when replying as it copies the ENTIRE post to the reply. If you want SOME of the original post in your reply - highlight the appropriate passage (Shift + Left or Right Arrow or drag with your Mouse) and click the little "Quote Selection" button that appears. BTW - you can Edit your OWN posts if needed.

and by writing it I by no means want to belittle Danny's amazing job.

I don't know how many gsm the 1mm card is David, but I suspect it's heavier again. You can buy the card from GPM, they also have the 0.5mm, but postage isn't cheap so if you want to get some from them then take a look at their site and see if there's anything else you want and add it to the order. It won't cost much extra (unless you buy a LOT of stuff ).

I couldn't really spot the difference in the two sheets of decks until I'd cut them out and fitted them together. Hopefully mine was just a bad sheet of printing and yours is OK.

There are more laser-cut parts available than just the framing etc. They also supply all the smaller guns, radomes and a few other things as options which you have to buy separately. Also the photo-etch for the AA guns and other small parts (same deal). Check the first post or two for all the extras I bought.

No plywood, that's the colour of the 1mm card. There is also laser-cut 0.5mm card in the kit for things like the decks and superstructure.

Hope you have fun with your Bismarck. I also hope they fixed the issue I had with the mis-matched colours of the main decks.

If you didn't get the laser-cut options I would STRONGLY recommend that you put the model on hold and order them.

    Hello Michael and John,
thank you for your comments. That´s right, there are more types of modeling clays and each one has its typical properties. I also tried Fimo, but Modurit(modelit) suits me more. If it is baked, it remains flexible. But after being cooked in water it is brittle and crumbling. It is also necessary to keep clean hands during the work so that grease/sweat or impurities do not get into the clay.

Today I am going to make other 5 sculptures on the front bulkhead.

Here are some current pics in real colours on daylight:

Good remark, Allan. There are more possibilities of course. I have good experience with this kind of wax paper and it is also easily available for me. The mass is baked in the oven at a temperature of about 130 ° C, so the wax paper endures without problems. I always use a new sheet of wax paper for next decoration.
