    Hello!

Been pushing steady on this Mogami the past 9 months, starting to feel like a need a break.   When I start feeling impatient, it’s better to put it down for a bit, so I’ve been messing with a side paper model of the Koln.   I intend to create a build log for that soon.   Since our last discussion, I focused on finishing all photo etching details on the aft deck to be painted the spray can lacquer IJN Gray I’ve been using on the rest of the hull (Tamiya T-69).   I started by determining the placement of the plane carrying carts by modeling out the configuration.   It was neat to see all the planes on the model, it was a feature that initially attracted me to this subject.     Then I taped off the aft deck and hull portions to be painted, shot that section.

By the way, all those references came from a book you should get if you're going to continue rigging ships.   Excellent reference.   here's the cover

So.   The portion you're starting with there is rigging the shrouds to the dead eyes.    Generally would be dark dark brown or black to show that they were tarred.   You're best bet is to attach the shrouds at the top of the mast first, then using a spacer that holds the top deadeye at a certain distance, wrap and secure the shroud to the deadeye.    Then rig the deadeyes together like you're doing but use some thread/rope about 1/3 of the thickness of the rope you're using there..    here are some pics that may help

You don't need to, and it's probably a better idea to not glue the mast in and use the stay rigging to keep the mast in place.     Coming along nicely!

hey gang it's been a while. I have been kind of busy lately, so I haven't had much time to do any work on the model. however, in the last week I've had a little time.
here are some photos of the deck buildings finished and installed.
I made a few mistakes in building but there not noticeable. on the other hand, I did accidentally use a mast dowel for the stand, luckily, I had some long dowels laying around that I sanded down to the right size.
the mast is not glued in yet it's just there for show.

okay, here is another update. I've been really busy the last few weeks, so I haven't gotten much done, but I am almost done with all the deck implements and buildings.

    this is my current build.

then I had a question, on the next page of the instructions it shows how to build the lifeboats, but it says to use adessive tape to hold the sides to a frame, so you can pull the lifeboat off the frame. what type of adessive tape should I use? and what is a good brand?

I am getting closer .....mass production of CNC blocks...I apologize for my lack of inventory for so long but we are perfecting the process.  I havent had blocks in stock for months.  It shouldnt be long now.  I want to be able to bring you the best CNC blocks possible at a ridiculously low price.   A lot lower than you might even imagine.   My rope is the cheapest available for the quality and lengths available.   I am hoping to do the same with some superior blocks in Boxwood and Swiss pear.  Automated so I can concentrate on my ship model projects like Speedwell.  I cant tell you how long and hard this R&D process has been.  So many experiments and so many failures.   Successes are few but we learn from every failed batch made.   I wish I could explain what goes into figuring this stuff out.  Lots of time and lots of money.

Hot out of the oven before polishing and tumbling.  Sorry for the lack of inventory but it will be so worth the wait it I promise.
