You should post a build log for your Sherbourne!

Wow this is amazing info, this is going to be very helpful.
Do we know where the plans and/or dimensions are for the gun tackles and blocks?

It is real life, this is a table from the 1700s for an actual ship.
Block sizes are the length of the block and rope sizes are the circumference of the rope. In both cases the size is in inches.
Ok thanks for clarifying.

Ferrus Manus = Ironhand,
thanks for your action towards Isaiah, now I understand. Hopefully he can shed some light onto the matter. Thanks again.
greetings
Joachim
I’m afraid that whatever you know, I probably know less than half. I’m still a beginner and don’t know much so I can’t really help with a lot.
I think you’re gonna have to help me out! 🙂

Isaiah, I sent you to a question log that should evolve into something that explains the blocks on the Sherbourne.
Oh yes I will look at that, thank you.

This is good info, but the thing I’m most confused about is if you use string or paper, where is the end? If you follow it around at the bow it just keeps going to the keel.
Where is the defining line to stop the paper or string. Also mine doesn’t have a bulkhead right at the bow like that.
-
Sorry for not being clear, but this is what I meant:
How do I measure and line off this area, where the arrow is pointing? I’m a bit lost as to how to do that at the moment.
-
I don’t really know the best way to measure and line off right at the bow. Because it’s curved and not like just measuring the bulkheads it’s confusing to me.
i haven’t really worried about it for the first layer planking, I’ve just measured the closest bulkhead and tapered it slightly more. But second layer planking is different.
Any advice?

I would fair by hand, unless you have what I have with Vanguard models with the engraved fairing lines and a dremel than just fair by hand. If you use a bench sander to fair the frames, You’ll overdo it before you can think.
-
Another really helpful tool is a bench top sander. Even if you just buy the cheapest one you can find just to sand the frames it’ll be a million times better than hand sanding.
I have the Triton spindle and belt sander which is really good, but i wouldn’t say I use it enough for the price.

That’s great, it’ll come in handy thought the build.

Do you have a bandsaw? That would be very helpful.

Yes the links work but don’t go to the right specific posts for some reason.
-
In my Sherbourne log I have a table of contents which all the links worked a week ago. Now all of a sudden the links only get directed to one post.
I’ve tried redoing the links but they keep getting directed to the same post.
I don’t know if something in the website has changed or what but I can’t get it to work now.

I’d like to view your build, I can’t find it though.
