I now started to work on the channels.

I made new ones out of walnut, with pins to help with the mounting.

I am starting to work on the deadeyes and chainplates.
    I will give Michael's (md1400cs) method a try.
In his log he showed us how he used the "J-B Weld" product to help modify the chainplates that came with the Corel kit.
Hopefully I can make mine look as good as his!

    Thanks,

    Hi folks:

    The day has come!!

After gluing the masts in position I begin with the rigging process.  The first step was to put the holding ropes of the masts, the ones that are behind the shrouds.  You can also see one of the the estays but are laid only to see how they look.

Next I will begin with the shrouds.

I finished the main deck planking and applied one coat of a clear satin finish. I also simulated the trenails at all of the joints, but you can't see it in the photos. I need a really good camera with a closeup wide angle lens.
Next up is to prepare and add the frames around the square openings and place the main deck staircase.

I went back over to the stern of the ship to tidy up a few loose ends.

Installed the curved pieces above the center ornamentation.
Then I gold leafed the two tall figurines and attached to the ship.

Added the figurines to the lower part under the galleries.

Working on the gun tacklings in the Moment....

this is a very weary Job with these good looking but very small 3mm blocks ( single and double).
Instead of cotton rope I used 100 % Polyester thread in natural hemp Color, which Looks the same, but gives the possibility to thin out the Ends (soft flame / heat) for doing the sheaving through the tiny holes

there are left and right Tacklings and the carriage backing tackle

the breech ropes are all pretackled to the carriages

this Little device helps to pretackle the blocks

I do 6 at a time (for two guns)

the runner Ends are not belayed properly yet.
This first test mounting was just to see if the Position can be achieved with the 3 Tacklings only

I think I`m not going to glue the carriages to the deck

    HMS Royal William in 1719

    Historical Background

The HMS Royal William in 1719 was the second ship of that name. The first HMS ROYAL WILLIAM was built in 1692 out of the 1670 HMS PRINCE forth. Rebuilt in this the extent of HMS PRINCE were retained, only the appearance has been significantly modernized. It was in honor of King William III. renamed HMS PRINCE in HMS ROYAL WILLIAM. The HMS ROYAL WILLIAM in 1692 was subjected to this Rebuilt in Chatham by shipwright Robert Lee.
William III. reigned from 1689 to 1702. He comes from the house of Oranien Nassau.
To make in England, he came through the „Glorious Revolution" 1688/89, at the Stuart King James II was deposed. William III. was married to Mary II Stuart. Mary II Stuart died on December 28, 1694th . After the death of William III. by Maria's sister, Anne Stuart power. Quenn Anne was the last British queen tables from the House of Stuart.
Anne reigned from 1702 to 1714. The English Parliament cleared the way for George I from the House of Hanover with the „Act of Settlement“. George I ruled Great Britain from 1714 to 1727. In the reign of George I., the second much Rebuilt HMS ROYAL WILLIAM. In 1719, she was subjected to this Rebuilt in Portsmouth by ship builder John Naish. You still kept the name HMS ROYAL WILLIAM. Rebuilt in 1756 during her next she was from a first rate to a seconde rate of 84 cannon built back. She was one of the ships of the Royal Navy with the longest period of service and was scrapped in 1813. Of the HMS ROYAL WILLIAM, there are three models in the NMM in London and one in Annapolis from the Rogers Collektion. Although the HMS ROYAL WILLIAM is one of the best documented ships of the Royal Navy, so there are very large differences in the models. In this I'll talk more about in the course of my building report.

My ROYAL WILLIAM is based on the plans of Euromodel. The keel and the frames are made of poplar plywood and the hull was built of pinewood. After a little bit of boxwood and pear only came to use. Now some pictures, I will soon, when I have more time, to write much more.

    Regards Kay

I hope you understand my bad english, I will learn it here in the forum definitely better.

    Hi Everyone,

I have moved on from the almost-disaster and have completed the anchors, all the ratlines and the remaining rigging of the foremast. I have primarily been working on the main-mast off the ship, doing all but the lower shrouds and ratlines and adding all the required blocks. Today I started tapering the spars.

    Hola!!

    Last update:
After some days of work I finished the rest of the masts, letting only the tops unbonded.  I did so thinking that it could subsequently facilitate the placement of the shrouds.  You can see the method I use to make them straight and how they look.

You can see in the pictures the masts in their positions but I have not fixed them yet.

    "Violin" blocks...

I noticed that there are some 7 mm high violin blocks with each two staggered single sheaved rollers shown on the plan. Actualy a regular double sheaved block would do the same function, but OK it may be an 18th century speciality to use violin blocks. So I searched the web in vain trying to find 7 mm violin blocks. Those found were of so poor Quality that I decided to do them myself this morning. Here is a prototype one....

two woodrods (5 and 3 mm diam.) were shafted together, whereby the 5mm one gets a concave outcut over the length. Both are glued together with PA. Borings drilled, and rope guide groove put on. Then cut the part in slices carefuly and do fine Tuning..., groove for stops, etc...

Starting the anchor rigging (beginning with the port side, cable stowed in hold)
The starboard side anchor cable shall be lashed to the messenger with help of the gundeck capstan

port side anchor cable (2mm ) stowed in tied Loops in cargo hold on top of cargo Barrels
(sorry for a Little unsharp pic)

secured on front bit and resting on horizontal beam with Messenger lead rollers, so that there is no rubbing against the Manager boards, and cable leaves hull through the inner bow hawse hole

coming out through opening (outcut) in main-hold deck grating

Hey all! I have started to plan for the next steps.

One thing was deciding the look of the deadeyes. This is the look I want: Heartshaped and quite wonky and irregular in shape.

I ended up just sanding the round ones in the kit to imitate that shape. I also tried to make the metal parts holding some of them, the kit suggests rope on these ones also, but I want metal ones.

This is how far I am doing a test version:

    Build log part 39

chain plates (here in the Moment only those for 5mm deadeyes) on closed, planked starboard side

port side foremast chainplates, as far as the planking is in place the complete chain is fitted, in the area of the cutaway portions, I use one of the stringers together with length-dressed chain plates and leaving away the the lower cap plate. The boltings are placed at half width of the stringer

Mainmast chainplates, I trust it is a solution that does not look too much out of the way after all

thealignment angles can be set just like on the planked starboard side

Moving on to the chain-plate mounting....

although I tried to get the individual link lenghths in size to enable the lowest mounting Point above the wales, I could not get them all alingned in a straight horizontal row, but I`ll leave as is. therefore the deadeyes are all horizontal in a row which I felt is more important.

    main mast arrangement

    fore mast arrangement

the alignment angles I get with a string from the appropriate hight of a preliminary 8 mm diam. mast with an adjustable dummy top-platform in hight for main and foremast

I've now made and installed the first part of the waist deck framing. As with the quarterdeck and forecastle deck framing, the beams, carlings, ledges and hanging knees are boxwood and the lodging knees are cherry. In addition, this portion of the decking required support stanchions. These were made from square boxwood strip with the round portions done with files and sandpaper. As always, the wood was finished with Wipe-on Poly. I am now working on the remaining waist deck framing.
