    Good afternoon Everybody..
So we had a great 4th of July.  As we have done in the past, we spent July 4th afternoon and evening at our in-laws who are very lucky and own a condo right on the beach of the Gulf of mexico here in Florida.  We sat on their balcony and watched thousands of firecracker bursts with much awe.  It seems that the displays get bigger and better each year.  This year for the first time, we saw several floating lanterns get launched from the shoreline and then soar high over the water until the flame went out and the lantern fell to the water.  It was a delightful day and evening as we wished America a very Happy Birthday.
There has also been a little more progress with La Nina.  We have mounted the mizzen (second) sail and boom and we have begun the final rigging.  It looks like this model will be finished pretty soon. We will be out of town for most of next week so no work will be done until later in the month.  Here are some pictures of our latest progress with more to follow later.  I hope all is well with everyone.
    Best,
    Jerry

    Hello Popeye...

Things are progressing with our move.  The Penske rental truck is all loaded with 8 ship models; see the attached photo.  All the cradles were specially designed for each model and they are screwed into the truck bed with a 1" slab of foam between each cradle board and the truck bed.  We leave first thing in the morning.  We are in the process of building a house on Keowee Lake in Salem, SC.  Our development is named, Keowee Key, located in Salem SC, so check it out on the internet.  Your admiral and you will love this place.  It's winters are very mild, golf and boating all year  (the lake never freezes)..  Keowee Lake is 24 miles long with about 300 miles of shoreline.  The amenities in Keowee Key are outstanding and I'm positive that you and your admiral will fall in ove with the place.  Who knows, you may become our neighbors?  I hope so!
    Best,
    Jerry

    Good evening everyone.

Well, I finished the ship's 3rd boat, the Pinnace and it sits alongside its mother ship waiting for orders.  The oars are out and it's ready to go.  I believe this finally competes my Victory except for covering it which I hope will be next week at the latest.  I intend to dust it with one of  those electronic dust removers that comes compressed in a can.  I hope I don't blow all of the fittings away.  Take care everyone and have a wonderful evening,
    Jerry

    Hello Everyone..
Well it has finally happened; the display case arrived and after breaking the "pointy thing" *   3 more times, Victory is safely sitting in its final resting place, the display case.  When the case was delivered, I anxiously watched as the delivery people placed the cover on the table.  To say I was nervous is definitely an understatement.  And sure enough as I "carefully" carried Victory toward the rear opening in the case, I hit the edge of the cover and cracked the last segment of the bowsprit.  So, I said goodbye to the delivery people, and carried the model back to my shop/office to make repairs of the bowsprit.  About an hour later everything seemed back to normal and once again I picked up the ship and as I was leaving my office, I hit a door jamb and BAM!, off went the same piece of bowsprit.  So back to the office to assess and repair the damage once more.  This time the repair was much more involved.  I had to remove 6 stays from the bowsprit, sever it completely, clean off previous glue and other gunk, repaint, replace and retie the stays.  This took about three hours.  It was now time, once more, to carry the model back to the room where the case is.  With both mine and my Admiral's fingers crossed, I managed to successfully reach the case and as I started to place  Victory into the case I hit the edge of the case and...you guessed it...knocked the "pointy thing" askew.  The repair was very easy this time, just a matter of a little CV cement and a few seconds of holding the tip in place.  All was well again and the model made it into the case without any more trouble

I truly believe that I was more nervous at this time than at any other time during the building stage but all is well and good and here some photos of the case and the ship inside.  Living in Florida, the land of sunshine, it was impossible to get a picture of the display case without the relections seen.  I'm sorry about that.

    Hello again everyone..
It took a long time but we finally received the display case from our manufacturer and our Bounty is happily on display in our living room.  She proudly sits on the other side of the narrows from HMS Victory vying for the most attention.  This will close out our joint effort in the building oh the HMS Bounty.
    Best to everyone..

    Hello Tom...
Your Bounty is exceptionally beautiful.  You have done a fantastic job; congratulations.
I wonder why you have chosen to post your work on our Bounty site.  I have no objections, but wonder if you know that there is a place for posting scratch built models.  At least there used to be.  In any event, I hope you will have a good place to display your work in your home.
    Best,
    Jerry

Thank you, Kevin.  I'm with you 100%.  I will never build another Victory either but building it was one of the huge joys in my life.  Not only because it was so satisfactory to complete this model, but most importantly I relish the number of friends I made throughout the world while constructing it.  I'm sure you must feel the same way.  I do wish that I could get to the UK once more as most of these friends live there.

My family and I are well; thank you very much for your thought.
