Adrieke got a reaction from GrandpaPhil in King of the Mississippi by Adrieke - FINISHED - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:80 - with LED lighting
on 8/12/13 at 2:30 PM I put the last piece in place
I started this build august 2012
I had 2 months of no building due to hull planks being off the wrong size which meant there weren't enough of them
during the build I decided to add led lighting which added a lot off extra work
a few months ago I also had almost a 2 moth break because of an infection and allergic reactions
during this build I also lost a good friend who was also building this model
finishing the model at times was partially sad and frustrating but I was determined not to give up
now that she is finished I feel a load has lifted and although with every look I take I see the many mistakes I made I feel proud
here a few quick pictures, I will take some better pictures including with lights on for the gallery

Adrieke got a reaction from Shazmira in King of the Mississippi by Adrieke - FINISHED - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:80 - with LED lighting
thanks Lawrence the deck planking was a lot of work an di did make a mistake which I was able to cover up . the wire I used was the smallest they had in the store and as I am not an expert I thought its better to have it thicker then necessary. if I do lights in the future I will be looking more at some of the other options like optic fibre . anything to not have to solder too much lol
thanks Popeye
thanks Robbyn recently I did some searching for Tblacks scratch build of the vinal haven. he needed a eagle statue. I found some railroad websites and find out HO scale is pretty close to the scale of this ship. so maybe, once I got some budget again, I ll see if there are some figures and horses I can find for her

Adrieke got a reaction from robert1965 in King of the Mississippi by Adrieke - FINISHED - Artesania Latina - Scale 1:80 - with LED lighting
thanks Rick
from what I have seen so far of your build Rick it will be even better and the working paddle wheel is awesome
ok the daily update pictures :
railings are done on one side
I have also added the capstan
this pictures shows more clearly the 2 breaking points above the deck and less visible the break I fixed before the mast was put in place
but I have good news. OcCre has put a whole extra dowel in of the correct size in the GF kit. a try with some of the oak stain I have cam out ok. not completely the same color but close enough
so tomorrow I will make the new one : tapered and stained before I ll rip the other one out (just in case I change my mind)
what is left once that is done:
- railings on one side
- rig the mast with the gangplank (which is already constructed)
- inspect all the railings and triangles and touch up any spots unpainted
- varnish the railings, masts and gangplank
- and finally hoist the flag

Adrieke reacted to Sjors in San Ildefonso by Sjors - FINISHED - OcCre - 1:70
A little update......
If you can call it an update !
No Pictures this time because.......I make a mistake !
The shrouds for the mizzen mast where on the ship but.....WRONG ROPE !!!!!!!
I was cleaning up the workbench and I was looking again at the rope that I've got.
Then I see a few rolls with thicker tread , 0.80
Strange ....so I look at the plans and yep, that rope should be going to use for the shrouds......instead of 0,50
So I have to remove the shrouds that's on it and have to change it.....
One luck for me....I don't like it as it was.
So tomorrow demolition and doing it again on the mizzen mast.....

Adrieke reacted to RGL in HMB Endeavour by RGL -FINISHED - Artesania Latina
Mizzen topmast stays. This was the most difficult as the thimble that goes on the end of the stay had to be put on whilst it was rigged. fat fingers and backstays do not mix. Now to have some fun and rig the blocks under and over the shrouds.

So I finished lining the upper bulwarks and got the cabin lined and under the cabin area covered........
So next is putting on the other color on lower half of ship.
The ps4 I got is taking up some of my time but will try to make some progress in the next few weeks or so......
