Evening all, a bit more progress  still with the dove cote and front wall section  -  I started off by  applying a few coats of White on the insides of the dove cote and wall, then I picked out the bricks on the inside  - and done my trade mark  sand morter, and picked out the bricks on the outside  - next will be the White on the outside wall.
And the dove cote roof had its flashing applied the a few coats of Grey followed by my dirty wash - then flat coated.

I havn't been as focused  on my build and some of my replies may have been a little weak in content  -  we have a situation here requiring most of my attention - Two days ago the admiral decided it would be good to fall down the stairs,   she is OK  just badly bruised and  very saw back,  I have been  trying to sort out pain relief for her  and  keeping heat applied to her back  with  hot water bottles.
Its so painful for her when she sits down  - hoefully  she will start to get some pain relief  very soon.

well i did get a bit done on the coach, the area under the driver position is apparently called the winch box, still to go in the a flap, behind which sits a 9vt battery to power the lights

I've recently had need of some tiny wooden fake blocks for a 1:92 scale model of a ship from the early 1800's. A few photos of well over 100 single/double/triple block are attached. They are made from rectangular sticks of apple wood, the stropping groove is made on two sides with a triangular miniature file. The hole[s] are drilled, then the end near the holes finished off with fine sandpaper. The end was then cut off, and that end shaped with sandpaper while being held in a very fine tweezer. A second tweezer with teeth was used to hold the block with the holes up, and the drill bit in a pin vice was used to cut the grooves for the rigging lines. The blocks in the photos are sitting on top of a US dime, about 3/4" in diameter. There is a rule in the second pic for size. They amount to around 6", 10" and 12" at scale.

been quiet on the building front last few days, life got in the way and i have a new project, my mum gave me all the family albums that she has for safe keeping, they are all pre digital, so loosing them would actually mean loosing them, i have started to scan them into my Pc, done 500 so far, about 4000 im not interested in and another couple thousand i will be doing over the next few weeks
me with dad in 74 on Christmas leave during my trade training and  must be 75 to prove that i did used to build fly things

BLACK VIKING reacted to Mr Pleasant in Mary Rose by Mr Pleasant - FINISHED - Caldercraft - 1:80
    Hi All
After some gentle persuasion on another thread, here's my build log for the Mary Rose.
From what I can see this is the first build log for this kit which is fortunate for me as you've got nothing to compare me against.🙂  This will be a build as it comes out of the box and will hopefully somewhat follow the plans but some allowances will have to be made for my lack of ability.  As long as it looks sort of like the photo on the box at the end and I've had a lot of fun along the way then I'll be happy.

The kit itself is pretty good and is standard Caldercraft fair in that the wood varies from pretty good for the most part but poor in some instances especially the Tanganijka provided for the deck planking.  Instructions are brief but the plans are excellent

I started this back in December 2020 and have been working through the planking so not a great deal to see so far.  Not sure how some members seem to get through the planking really quickly as it seems to take me forever.
I'm not a master shipwright like a lot of members so my log will be pretty much limited to progress rather than a master class in how to's and techniques, however I will point out any issues that I come across so that any other builders of this model will be forewarned.

Oh yeah, I'm not a master photographer either.....now that expectations are set, feel free to follow along

Evening all,   work on the Barn continues  - I started  by painting the floor section a  stone colour, then it  had a rough wash  then some  dusting, this included part of  the ground in the courtyard that's attached to the Barn base,   I then fixed the wall section down to the base and secured it with a heated PVA around the inside wall/base joins.
It was then  time to touch up the interlocking sections and weather them to match the exhisiting  paintwork.

I then measured up and adjusted the roof as it should be joined to the stable block and not have a gap - this still needs more work.

The roof is just dry fitted for now  as each roof section will be painted  before joining together to make it easier to  brush paint.

    OC.

    The Main Chassis

This consists of three long beams connected to two suspension stabilizers.

You will note that these both show "clefts" where presumably narrow planks where joined to make  a wider board.  These were produced using a mill and a 0.4 mm Kyocera end mill.

After painting the two oposing edges, the beams were connected to the suspension stabilizers ensuring that everthing was at right
    angles:

The final result looks like this

    Hi Bruce,

Early days yet so it is a bit hard to comment on the quality of the kit.  I think that the cabin will be the real test.  However, so far it looks OK.  The hubs are boxwood.  The laser cut parts are walnut/boxwood and seem quite accurate. There is quite a lot of "scratch" work such as fabricating the spokes from dowel.  This makes it a bit less like "painting by numbers"

    good evening everyone

most of the outside cladding is done now and i have been doing a lot of sanding on her today

what do you call the box the crew sit on, well what ever it id called, work has progressed on that as well

the side panels are leather (well simulated) and this confused me for a while, the material is used to cover both sides of the wooden pieces and pulled across the open area, so why not make it one piece

quite a lot still has to be done before i can put this into place, and yes i keep looking at the enterprise, worrying myself on where to restart on her

Well, I've been offline for awhile but I haven't been idle.

I've made a new buisine (trumpetty thing) with a finer shaft, so it looks more like a trumpet than a bazooka. And a second one. Terribly worried I was going to cut the shafts so thin they would break, but they turned out ok.

And I've carved the second buisinier, so now I have both.

So here's the three figures so far - A and B on the seal below - (the helmsman isn't finished - I won't finalise his arms till I have the steering oar made and in position)

The next people to carve will be the guys amidships (C on the seal). And looking carefully at them for the first time I realise they are working a windlass!

It turns out this seal is not just a picture of a ship - it's captured a moment in time!

This ship is getting ready to set sail: The helmsman (A) is in place to steer the vessel, and two buisiniers (B) are announcing the ship's departure. The windlass (C) is raising the yard , two crewmen at the bow are weighing in the anchor (D), another crewman (E) is climbing a backstay to unfurl the sail when the yard is fully hoisted.

thank you for the comments, i got the Enterprise out of storage, did a lot of contemplating, and thought i need to finish something, I have very little to show for this year, other than the display case, im aware its not a race but that’s me so the coach continues

both sides are now pretty well covered, and the wrapping of the ends is going on, a lot of sanding is required
the final couple are with the seats just placed in for now to see how she looks
