    Hi David

Thanks, but I think I'm beyond therapy at this stage! Not even Dr Per can help....

As for the sub, well, you're right. What a 'chick magnet'.

    Cheers and all the best

    Hi Frank

Now, that would be fun to make, not to mention, challenging! 78mil, though. Wow!

    Thanks for sharing the info!

Yep and many thanks, George.  Two engines and associated pipe work etc; one on each side.

Once the engine room's done, then I can start on the ship's tender and jet skis.

    Now, they'll be fun!

    All the best

    Hi folks

Thanks for all of your comments and Likes!

Well, I'll be damned!  These Caterpillar C32 Marine Diesels are going to be the death of me!  I've already built one engine, along with some pipework and I've come to the conclusion that I need Igor and Piet's skills to make a real go at it.  But, at slightly less than a centimetre long, let's be realistic about how much detail I can actually add to them.

I've persevered, though and, have come up with something that looks relatively realistic (well, to me, anyway!).  Please bear in mind that the painting still needs to be done.

    Please see the photos below.

    Cheers and all the best!

Ah research.  We do research before we start building and then do more research as we build.  That’s when we discover things that make us change part of our build that we have already done.  Hopefully we don’t have to start over.  In this case all I have to do is remove the aluminum tape with the rivets.  It turns out the rivets used on the Pequot, except for the rivets in the stem post, are flat head rivets and smooth on the outside.  Also in post #99 you can see a plate added to the hull.  It turns out the hull was enlarged in that area on both sides.  I was not able to find a reason.  Anyway now I have to add a box to both sides of the hull all because of research.   On the other hand, if we did not do the research our models would not be correct.

Other than that I put together the basics of the cabins and placed them in position.

An excellent sentiment, Bob!  By the way, the model's coming along really well.

Bob, Been there done that ! I stopped work on a model and stripped it back to the main deck . Some research showed up that had showed me how some things where wrong.
    Your build is looking good!

    Hi Denis,

Here I am again, popping up to check that you haven't gone completely of the rails and I must say I have no need to worry.

There's far too much progress to mention all at once but I have to say that the windows, lights, shingles, paintwork and drip rail all look absolutely great.

I wonder just how the warming cabin effects the boats stability though.

I do have a suggestion for the roof, have you thought about putting Solar Panels on, might work. Just a thought.

Nice, now one doesn't see shingles on too many small vessels, on the small roofs of the galleries on the sterns of some of the big three masters yes, but Denis you are breaking new ground here.

thanks to everyone for the kind comments....and to those that hit the like button.   I tried to keep fantasy and probability in balance...it's obvious that I've strayed more towards the fantasy side of things.  still......quite a bit can be done to make it all come together.   to try and reclaim the probability aspect,  I would need to do some reconstruction.   ........a thought just came to me

I agree with you..........the height is the factor here........keep everything else,  but ditch the height thing.   .....and I've thought up just the thing

It was a first time for me also David.  I've always used acetate and it just never looks "right".

Patrick I think it about time you set up a session with Dr Per for therapy.  As for the sub nice idea and some rich kid will pick it up and use it for showing off to the ladies.

Looks like marine diesel to me, Patrick.  I don't think I'd try to put the Caterpillar logo on the rocker cover, however.

I looked that over... nice concept but...  the acrylic hull/viewports makes me nervous and there's no maximum dive depth listed.  I like it and it would be great for me, a couple of minions in spiffy uniforms and a white cat to get to the dead volcano island.
