Omega1234 got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Black Diamond by popeye the sailor - FINISHED - Revell - 1:350 scale - PLASTIC - snap tite kit
Hi Denis
Now, that's really great work! Having said that, what's even more important is the inspiration that you're giving the boys. We need to entice this and future generations away from the digital world so that they can experience and appreciate what it's like to build something with their own hands.
I'm sure they're going to love it and be inspired to build their own.
Nice!
Cheers

thanks George......too bad they're still too young to play with paints. that's why I chose car models.......these particular kits, they throw them together and they can play with them. I don't think they can grasp the concept of leaving them on a shelf
nice to meet you JLuebbert......I'm glad you enjoyed this little build. actually, the scale helped out a lot....otherwise I'd be drilling through masts.
thanks for the good word John I didn't mean it to be, but it turned into another example, that it really doesn't matter what level the kit is......anyone can take a kit and make it what they want it to be. I've been partial to the advanced beginners kits that Billing's puts out.......but I did the Nordkap too, and that was an expert kit. I bashed it just as much as any other kit
I can hear the first question the boys will have......where are the sails? the box art shows the model with sails........it should be fun telling them that the sails are furled. the rigging will be another one, I'm sure I'll let you know what happens I thank everyone for joining in with me on this one. I didn't do the best paint work, and hardly any detail.....but the rigging proved to be fun...and I know the boys will get a kick out of it. I really appreciated all the kind comments

Omega1234 reacted to pete48 in Buzzards Bay 14 by pete48 - FINISHED - 3/4" = 1' scale - SMALL - L.F. Herreshoff design
That is true Cap'n'Bob, It did help a lot having built this boat 2 other times.( along with a mock-up that I started before the first one was built ) I have solved the issues that I had encountered on the previous builds. Wich brings up an interesting topic, How many people make mock ups or partial builds to solve problems ( I make mock-ups all the time ) The Buzzards Bay Mock-up has been under construction over 2 years thrown in the garbage and pulled out of the trash ( by Kate )more than once re-decked twice, painted a few times, sanded numerous times Here is a shot of it in the background
Best Regards,
Pete

Some designers knew how to create beautiful boats and still make it easy on the builder.

Where's the pulleys in the blocks?

Omega1234 reacted to Moxis in Clara May by Moxis - FINISHED - 1/48 scale - ketch - after David McGregor plans
Thanks again aviaamator and Patrick.
The pulleys are there in the slots. However difficult to see because they are dark brown. Also diameter could be a little bigger.

Wow.. seeing mass destruction is never a pretty sight but I'm confident the reconstruction will be excellent. Bold move, Dave... very bold.

Omega1234 got a reaction from Jond in Boothbay Harbor One Design 1938 by Jond - FINISHED - 1:6 - RADIO - 21' racing sloop
Hi Jond
...ahem... I've looked at your photos and I have to say that I'm finding it a real challenge to distinguish between your models and the real boat; such is the realism that you've achieved.
Very impressive!

Hi Nenad
The colour of the stand is really nice and, you're right, it does have that 'old but shiny' look that you were aiming for. Nicely done.
Your story about your mother's gloves is a good one, too. It just goes to show how easily we can be fooled at the best of times!!
Keep up the great work, Nenad.
All the best
