Omega1234 reacted to Mirabell61 in SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse 1897 by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - scale 1:144 - POF - first German four stacker of the Norddeutscher Lloyd line
thank you very much Jeff,
I also love visible figurines on deck for the same reason as you do. For this project I have been collecting over weeks and months crew members, officers, and (seated, standing, walking) passengers in period fashions, these will be placed in the appropriate decks and places on board.

Omega1234 reacted to Chasseur in SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse 1897 by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - scale 1:144 - POF - first German four stacker of the Norddeutscher Lloyd line
Really shaping up to be a very fine model with lots of detail. I love the figures on deck. Figures always tell a story and make the ship come alive!
Well done Nils

Hi B.E.
many thanks for your kind compliment..., in the moment its taking quite some time to get these little things together,
but in the meantime.....
If you wish, and for those who are also interested in the present status, so to say what has been done since keellaying in June last year, here some illustrations I picked out....

I did a fiddely little cabin today which is situated right in the middle on the aft structure`s roof, still need to do four lights on that area as well...

Omega1234 got a reaction from ggrieco in SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse 1897 by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - scale 1:144 - POF - first German four stacker of the Norddeutscher Lloyd line
Hah Nils!
I just had a little chuckle. Those vents reminded me of a whole bunch of meerkats checking out the view. All standing up straight and facing the same direction.
Where's David Attenborough?
Nice work, of course!
Cheers Patrick

Omega1234 got a reaction from Elijah in Licorne 1755 by mtaylor - 3/16" scale - French Frigate - from Hahn plans - Version 2.0 - TERMINATED
Hey Mark
I think you're too modest, because we're learning just as much, or even more, from you. Mighty fine work as always!
BTW, 1/8th of an inch is well within my comfort zone! In fact, it's not even worth breaking a sweat over it

Omega1234 got a reaction from Elijah in SHADOW by Omega1234 - FINISHED - Scale 1/300 - Luxury 60m Mega Yacht
Hi Lawrence
Many thanks! I'm really enjoying building Shadow; albeit, the time I've had available lately has been pretty scarce. Hopefully, that'll change as things settle down over the next few weeks.
I've also thought about your comment about the large scale models, but sadly, I've resorted to building miniatures because I have no more room for the big models in my house. In fact, all my large RC yachts (including a 3 masted radio controlled clipper ship which I built when I was 17), are languishing in my garden shed! Sad, but true.
So, miniatures it is, from now on!
Have a great week.
Cheers

Omega1234 got a reaction from mtaylor in Deben 5-tonner by vaddoc - FINISHED - Scale 1:10 - a Whisstock yard design
Hi Vaddoc
Nice lamination work, there. It's a pity about the mistake with the frames, but, at least you've picked up the error and are well on your way to resolving it.
Well done on both counts.
Cheers

Omega1234 got a reaction from Chasseur in Great Republic 1853 by rwiederrich - FINISHED - four masted extreme clipper
Nice work, Rob.
The foredeck is certainly looking crowded and 'fit for purpose'. I can't wait until the rigging starts growing, but I understand that that's a long way away.
Enjoy.
Cheers
Patrick.

Omega1234 reacted to Mike40 in Beavers Prize 1777 by Mike Y - 1:48 - POF - Hahn style
Seeing the current state of your build it is obvious that your striving for perfection is really paying off Mike. Using templates is a great idea too. I will try to remember that when I begin constructing the transom on my own model.

Omega1234 reacted to SawdustDave in Sovereign of The Seas by SawdustDave - FINISHED
Guess I've put off the figurehead sculpting long enough. King Chuck sitting on his royal steed with raised sward is kinda intimidating, to say the least.
I'm just playing around with some Sculpy for now, as I need to get the scale right on the first pass.
Also, I have known for a long time that the beak has got to be extended by about 1/2" to accommodate this figure.

Omega1234 reacted to michael mott in SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse 1897 by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - scale 1:144 - POF - first German four stacker of the Norddeutscher Lloyd line
Nils because of my own project I am seeing just how much fine work you have accomplished with this ship. The thing that just struck me though is the small size of the base on which the model is sitting. It would make me very nervous with such long overhangs.

Omega1234 got a reaction from mtaylor in Syborn by popeye the sailor - FINISHED - 1:33 - trawler
Hi Denis
I love the way that you think and the way that those thoughts are translated into the actual build process. It's almost as if we can follow your thought patterns picture by picture.
For instance, the way you tackle the winch is a good case in point. We can see how each little bit that you add to it is the result of a spark of ingenuity and creativity; all of which will result in something believable and realistic.
Nicely done!
Cheers

Omega1234 got a reaction from mtaylor in HMS Macedonian 1812 by JerryTodd - 1:36 scale - RADIO
Hi Jerry
Without a doubt, one of life's simple pleasures is watching your own creation setting sail and coming to life on the water.
She looks beautiful and truly a wonderful sight to behold.
You must be very happy.
Cheers

Omega1234 reacted to michael mott in Deben 5-tonner by vaddoc - FINISHED - Scale 1:10 - a Whisstock yard design
Vaddoc that stem looks like it glued up really well, with such fine veneers it will look almost like a piece of solid wood bent.
