Here's the jib sail pattern being test fitted.

And it gets the same treatment as the staysail did.

The sheet on the right is liberally sprayed with flat clear lacquer, which doesn't shrink it.

Then the second piece is laid over it, and wiped with a finger to remove any air bubbles.

Starting to do the sails. First step is to tape the sail pattern down, then tape silkspan over it.

Next step is to trace the lines onto the silkspan, then cut another piece with the grain at 90 degrees to the first piece.

Both gaffs installed. All that is left are the sails, davits, lifeboat, anchors and stern flag. Oh, and putting it on a water base display.

Prepped blocks for both gaffs.

Main boom rigged.

To prevent underbleed, brush or spray either clear or the underlying paint on the edge of the tape.

Here's the foremast and jib boom

I'm a huge fan of interior reveals!

Then I painted and attached the cowl vents

Over the weekend I fashioned the bowsprit and attached it.

Although 3/4" is appropriate, so is 1/2" (.005" in your scale)

I inserted the belaying pins, using a piece of 1/16 thick basswood as a lower spacer.

Then I used that same spacer to cut the tops off evenly.

The glue won't show once rope coils are hung over them.
