I've never seen a model come together so quickly. Do you get any sleep?

I have never heard of a "bad" brand of CA

Hmmm......
CA glue continues to harden more and more for hours after it first "kicks off" Perhaps this is what you're experiencing?

You are off to a great start. There are several GB dory build threads on here, I'm sure you have found them. When you are finished, I will give you 10% off your next kit.

CA glue adheres very well to paint, better than wood glue. Second question: again, CA.

Many people don't seal the wood at all, and just use the CA to adhere the plates. Myself, I use a primer undercoat, then paint the hull color and apply the plates over that. Other people paint copper color to lessen the chance of seeing in between the plates. As with most model techniques, there are multiple ways that work. Some people use contact cement for the plates as well. Here's a couple of build threads:

I have noticed that if the picture file is too large, it flips the photo, usually just 90 degrees. Saving the photo with a lower rating fixes the problem. Generally around 1Mb files are ok.

And this last one I think @MrBlueJacket will like it. Of the eight model boats I've completed, 5 of them have been from Bluejacket.
Yes, I like it. Very nice. Your customer file now has a note that you will get 10% off your next kit from us.

To calculate that
3/32" = 12" multiply 12 x 32 then divide by 3

? Let me get that right. My great Republic was in 1/128...where 1/32"=1ft.
So 1/96...3/16"=1ft? Or somewhere there abouts?
A ratio of 1:128 is a scale of 3/32" = 1'
A ratio of 1:96 is 1/8" = 1'

Congratulations! You will get 10% off the next kit you buy from us, which I see you did last night. Enjoy the large Friendship sloop!

Of course you want an accurate hull, but remember - when the model is finished, no-one will be taking a ruler to it and saying "your hull is 1/16" too wide here"
Just sayin'

As for HOBBY knifes having a tendency to "ahem" go where they shouldn't, in my 67 years of building models, I think I have left a bit of DNA on every one of them. Certainly the last 20 years that I can remember.

I agree. Flooring grit would be microscopic. Actual grit size 280 is only 52.5 microns in diameter (about .002 inches) Dividing by 32 gives you a size of 0.0000625 inches. Just use flat gray paint.

Well done! Your customer file has a note in it that you will get 10% off the next kit you buy from us.

Hi Bill,
I think you can still get sheets of "plumber's lead" which is about 1/8" thick and pretty easy to cut.
