    good evening everyone

some of you might have realised i have been doing some posting again within MSW, as i bring myself back into the fold after a period away, i never got bored with the Victory, just annoyed that my standard of craftsmanship is below par, as found my self constantly pulling it apart to try and do better, take the gunport lanyards, i dont know how many times i have attempted them but only now are they getting to the standard to which i like them  anyway she is re -homed now as i improved my workshop to allow work to continue on her later this year.

it is nice to be back

So it's been a long time since I've posted any kind of an update over here....

The weather is nice today, low humidity and a light breeze, so first thing this morning (ok.... not exactly first thing, but close to it), it was out to the picnic table with some newspaper, a couple of rattle cans of primer, and the big white beastie.

(I love the smell of primer in the morning.... well... maybe not)

I've pushed this step a little, there are still some details to add to the hull, but I can now see any flaws, nicks, scratches, gaps etc. that I missed when whe was glaringly white. Turns out... there are a few gaps... and scratches... and other areas that need a nice combination of sanding and filling. Not a big deal, I expected that.

Incidentally, it's Tamiya grey primer that I used. OK for the hull, but when I do the unloading gear, I'm going to have to find something in a red primer... grey topcoat over grey primer is just not going to work....

Right then, enough of this talk Kevin!
Your ship is beautiful, yes you read it correctly, beautiful! Just remember when you get back to it, approach it with confidence and you will achieve a wonderful Victory! And yes, the pun was intended!
Consider this your "pep talk" for the day.

    Greetings all
Well I have now finished the rigging of the clue lines sheets and tacks, with only the main port to thread through. The next task is the travelling guy, guy pendant and flying jiboom guy. As I have said before I have never heard of most of these things before . Anyway that should be the completion of the rigging according to the manual. I however done no work at all on the driver boom and driver gaff as I am awaiting the small sheet of 5mm which I have lost, and it contains the jaws for both. Here are a few photos of my progress , and once again you can see there is rigging to be belayed on the inside of the ship on the gun deck, you can see the thread on the cleat were it is belayed. There is also rigging belayed on the upper gun deck. Thanks once again for viewing and your comments.. DAVID

    Kevin,

At least you are back in the shop. Me having a hard time with the stairs and also at the same time not listening to the doctors about giving it more time to heal. At least now they have me going to water therapy and that should make the muscles stronger for the stairs if not I only have one option left and I am not looking forward to that one LOL.

    Kevin,

Don't sell yourself short - your build is of an excellent standard. Wanting always to do better is good - that what keeps us all going for the next model. But wanting to achieve our idea of "perfection" is not so healthy and has the potential to rob us of the joy we find in modelling. Be inspired by others achievements, but don't be intimidated by them. I look forward to resumption of play with your excellent Victory.

I just bought this new tool from MicroMark. It is for cutting mitred angles on wood strips. I have a cutting block for this, but this tool is much easier to use and makes clean accurate cuts. I will be posting a few photos soon on the frames and the staircase of the main deck. All of the cuts were made with this tool.
