cheers Overboard.....I am quietly pleased with the result, and if I can help you with yours I will be more than happy......I have to decide whether or not to include the ensigns or not....corels flags are not very good so need a more realistic one before I add them.....keep going with it, mine nearly ended up in the scrap yard buy i'm glad I persevered with it....will post some pics soon. If anyone has a flag producer I would love to know.

going to proceed and see where it ends up. I am one of those builder that is not really bothered about historical accuracy of model kits....I just enjoy producing a model. If others think this is wrong that doesn't bother me either....will keep you posted with pics as I progress.

cheers ccoyle….will post some pics when it has finished raining ….HMS Unicorn is already underway....lockdown has certainly been an advantage in completing her.

I can utter the immortal words......Bellona is COMPLETED...……..apart from the ensigns which I may or may not add.....after over 7 years of toil, Bellona and me are at one. It has been a journey full of angst and doubt. At one stage Bellona came within a hairs width of being scrapped. Pictures to follow soon.

All the foremast yards now in place and the main mast yard.....progressing rather nicely......wont be long now for those infamous words.....Bellona is completed.
-
I really cant remember to be honest.....if you post a pic of the edge you are talking about I will try to remember exactly what I did....cheers.

I will do Christopher...glad I could help....I had many problems with this build and to be honest I don't know how I stopped myself from setting fire to it......I have altered things on it most obviously the metal gun ports, but it was either those or the scrap yard...….will take a look at yours today.....reagards

A milestone on Bellona...the first of the yards being prepped for final fixing...….to think I came within a hairs breadth of scrapping Bellona because of the way it was going is a lesson to others to just keep persevering. Loads of errors and mistakes but I think they add to Bellona overall character....well that's my theory and i'm sticking to it.

I glued with watered down PVA after every couple of snakes......I used one continuous piece of rope and secured with a clove hitch at each stage.. It has a slight distortion but I can live with it.
-
I will do some more later and post......It is the tediousness of the rats that gets me..
-
that is just what I did....dyed intense black.... along with some spare Caldercraft black rigging.....The dye doesn't get right to the centre of the rigging so I touch up any visible tan area.
-
today should see the rats completed.....things will move on quickly after that I think......seems like an age that I have been doing shrouds then rats.....I see clove hitches in my sleep.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
