How do you properly align gun ports?

Hi, I have the Victory constructor kit and I have reached the point where I have to make the cannon windows ...about 100 in total or so...

Is there a technique or a standard way to make tall the cannon windows lining properly? How you do it??

Hi, Siol. I think you are asking about aligning gun ports, such as the cast metal type found in kits? I have edited your post title to hopefully make the question a bit more clear. Hope you get some hits soon.

Have you planked yet?  There's a couple of ways to do this depending....  You might look at the other logs for this kit and see how they did it.  Got to the top of the Kit Logs section and there's an index you can download.

In the upper right hand corner of the home page there is a box that says "search". Type in "constructo victory" and the other logs (entries) about your model show up. I didn't look at any any of them. But perhaps your question is answered in one of the logs.

thanks for the advise. I did what u say but is like searching a needle in a haystack... Unless is specifically stated in the log title, I cant find anything...

The distance from the top of the deck to the top of the port sill was a defined distance.  There was a formula - the caliber of the gun was the determining factor.  The slope of the sill followed the slope of the deck under it.  It was not horizontal at the ends of the ship.  Rather than a rectangle a gunport  was often a parallelogram with vertical sides.

If you want to set the height of the gun port from the deck you can make up one of the cannon, sit it on the deck and mark the centre point with the cannon barell.  don't cut it to full size as one you have the cannon able to protrude it will be slightly lower due to the camber of the deck. Therefore, best to remeasure once having a hole for the cannon to be pushed through.
