Donald McKay's Flying Cloud set a new record for sailing 'round the Horn in 89 days 21 hours from New York to San Francisco in 1851 on her first voyage. Improved that time by 13 hours in 1853 at a time when the norm for the passage was 200 days. These passages made Captain Josiah Cheesy and his wife Eleanor international celebrities for a while. Mrs. Cheesy was the navigator, something unheard of at that time. The record was not bettered until 1989. Your turn Adrieke.
