U.S. Navy Veteran. Not a wood ship builder, never tried it, although I love looking at them and reading about them. I have always built plastic models of ships and at age 77 I will not be attempting any wood ships. The only wooden ship I own is a “gift shop” model. But I love anything nautical and the sea. I read sea stories and the history of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII and in it’s beginnings in the late 1700’s.  This is a very nice forum.

Abbot, welcome to MSW. I'm 75 so don't think you're too old to start wooden ship modeling. You can start with an easy dory kit (which are fairly inexpensive) and see if you enjoy making wood model ships but if you prefer plastic, please join in. Glad to have you aboard.
