The funny thing is that is still probably a paraphrase. He likely said

 

"We're not gonna know nuttin"

 

They found copper platting and tree nails so likely dates between 1775 and 1850.

Probably something like "What's most people's concerns is, dey don't waants it to back out to sea. If it do go back to sea dey's not gunna know nuttin"
