That's the one. See the previous page (Ashley's #3162 to 3164) for a better idea of how it went around a spar in full-size.

Good progress you are making on the Sherbourne Palmerit. I have gotten very stuck on this model cause the instructions are unclear and the images just wrong in certain areas. But I skimmed through ECKs build log and once again we might have ourselves a blueprint error.  The very knot on the main mast with the 2 thimble blocks.  Apparently the images in the manual show a diffirent setup having them on the very top end of the main mast while the blueprint location of the 2 thimble blocks is just two blocks though im unsure what exactly.  You can spot this in the images of the manual now I just made this discovery so im trying to figure out what to do myself.  But I wanted to give you a headsup aswell 👍

Take page 49 images for reference to the plan sheet 10. The location doesnt match.

The photos in the Sherbourne instructions book at the end for the rigging are actually from a different (similar but not identical) model ship (maybe the Alert, I don't know) - the instructions do say that. You need to follow the plans (with the photos in the instructions book just for some other reference points).

I think all the rigging could just be done with regular knots. There is a photo in the instructions showing what seems to be a regular knot to tie a piece of thread to an eyelet and they you tie another knot around the block. I think everything else in principle could be done using just regular knots. I'm trying to figure out what other options there are to decide how much more detail - if any - I want to add (and to learn more about what the rigging actually does and how it would be on a real ship).

I'm just not sure how to do the other pieces of rigging. The photos seem to show something more than just simple knots. Maybe since this is a pure novice model ship (and the photos were from a model a step up) they just wanted people to not worry about that level of detail and just tie basic knots. Having a novice ship that required seizing lines would have made a beginner's head explode I think.

On another thread, someone suggested this book as another source on rigging (as in really rigging a ship): https://maritime.org/doc/steel/

And volume IV of TFFM by member David Antscherl.

https://seawatchbooks.com/pages/collection-bundle

And "The Riggers Apprentice" by Brion Toss.

Im aware of that they show a diffirent ship but that comes just after after these Images I pointed out. Though looking through the blueprints these "2 missing  blocks" are not present on any blueprint so that talks for what you say. But im still unsure what to think, You can even see these blocks by the mainmast on the boxcover of the model.

For anyone following (or finding) my build log - and for future me trying to remember - there’s a useful discussion of rigging here:

That’s Trial, not Alert.

I’m away for a few days but I’ll open up my Sherbourne when I get home and will try and work out where those blocks go too.

Hi - I've been lurking and following your build with interest as I'm about a month behind you. I've just starting the rigging and have the same questions about the two thimbles at the top of the mast - according to the plans the top most cleats are empty and the thimbles are attached at the lower set of cleats on the topmast - I believe that there should be the thimbles at the top set of cleats and blocks at the lower set.

What did you do? Follow the plans exactly?

I haven't gotten back to doing the rigging. I was finishing up a couple other things and now I haven't been able to find a block of time to spend. When I've had a moment to model a bit I've done a straightforward step on another model. And now my son is back from college for a week and he has his bedroom back, so I'll be a bit. I'm probably going to try to follow the plans as close as possible. I've still puzzling a little bit over some of the ways the rigging should be done - I need to read over some other build logs (for the Sherbourne and related models).
