“Virginia Built” Round Stern by Mike Collier - Wye River Models

Glued together the keelson, stemliner, stem support and bottom of the round stern.

Yes they are. My modeling interests is building work boats.

Mike, you alone are responsible for over half the build logs of kits from this manufacturer we don't see every day, which I suppose makes you our resident expert on them. Whatever became of the box stern and the buy boat?

I did finish the boats. I didn’t finish the build logs because it just didn’t seem like any was following or looking at them since they not big four mast sailing ships. It just seems like that all everyone wants. But I should’ve finished them, sorry. Here’s pictures of the finished boats

Very cool! Nice job on the completed builds, and I'm looking forward to seeing following along on the new one. It's fascinating to see the variety of workboats from the Chesapeake, although I have to admit that I don't really know the difference between them all (box stern vs round stern, for example).

The only difference that I know about is the round stern can backup better, I’m sure there must be more reasons for the difference I’ll have to look up more about them.

Some of us love humble workboats! If you wouldn't mind making a final post in each of those build logs, I can mark them 'finished' for you.

Didn’t work to much today, watching football. I did work on the round stern adding the top and supports.In the back ground of the picture is my pot pie skiff, a killer hale and long tail drake that I carved.

Added the spreader bar. Cut out the sides, glued and clamped them in place.

I got some more work done on my round stern. I installed the keel, I plank the round stern and started to plank the bottom.

Got the bottom finished and started on the inside. I’m working on the deck supports.

Got the deck supports in today and installed the floor supports in. Won’t be able to work on the boat tomorrow I’ll be at the Oxford Md. model boat show until 4pm. If in the area stop by and say hi.

Got some more work done on my round stern. I got the floor done and working on planking the deck. I also cut out the low cabin sides and roof.

Finished the floor and the deck. I started to build the cabin.

Got the basic boat built and painted. Now I got to start the rigging for the tongs.
