Tom on page 443 of the USS constitution build, what thickness of styrene were you using? All I have is .020 and seems too thin. Thanks in advance.

Andy I hope you get back to your Diana soon. You have a very nice build going!

I have the micro scrapers and after a little practice I found that the basswood that a lot of models come with seems to be too soft. I used pear wood and held the scraper straight up at 90 degrees and they worked great. These micro scrapers don't have a burr edge so holding at an angle didn't work at all for me. Straight up worked best for me.

Thank you to everyone for your help. This is my first attempt at wooden ship building and I truly am enjoying it. The tape stayed down for about two weeks and then slowly started lifting. I'm probably mishandling the tape with my fingers touching the sticky side too much as was stated. I wish there was a video I could watch of someone actually putting on the copper tape so I could see how they are doing it. I learn easier by watching someone do a project. Thanks again.

When the copper tape has been applied to the hull of the USS Constitution by Model Shipways, do I also need to apply a coating over the copper plating to seal it so it doesn't try to peel off? Thanks

Mark I typed turning copper on a lathe in YouTube and watched a couple of videos of turning copper and the operator didn't use cutting oil or coolant.

Ken your ship looks great. You may have answered this before, but how do you add the words to your pictures. Is there a special software or program needed to do it? Thanks

Bulkheads from solid wood
in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck

Has anyone ever made their own bulkheads for a model ship? I have a Charles Morgan kit by Model shipways but I would like to make as much as I can from scratch. I was wondering if solid wood would warp more than plywood?
